
Dr. Ramgopal Agarwala did his B.A. and M.A. in Economics from Presidency College,Calcutta University in 1961 and his Ph.D. in econometrics from Manchester University in 1966.He taught in the post-graduate Department of Economics of Calcutta University from 1961 to 1963. After doing macro-modeling for India, UK and Canada during 1963-1971, he joined the World Bank in Washington DC in 1971.He worked in various senior positions in the World Bank for 25 years with his last posting to Beijing as the chief economist of the World Bank in China. Since retirement in 1996 he has been working as consultant for the World Bank and Asian Development Bank and is a Distinguished Fellow at Research and Information System (RIS) for Developing Countries in New Delhi. He has written several books covering the subjects of econometric model for India, rise of China, labor markets and social security in Asia.
He has written more than two dozen articles in learned journals which cover issues, among others, of reforms of international financial architecture. He has been an active participant on issues relating to the global financial crisis of 2008 and the national, regional and global measures needed to minimize the adverse effects thereof. He is currently working on developing a vision for India 2050.The theme is that for sustained growth to an affluent India in 2050, we need ‘decent’ capitalism which emphasizes not only efficiency but also inclusiveness and low-carbon lifestyle.

Dr. Rajiv Kumar, a well-known Indian economist, is the author of several books on the Indian economy and India's national security and one of the country's leading columnists. His latest books are, ‘Resurgent India: Ideas and Priorities’ (2015-co-authored) and ‘Exploding Aspirations: Unlocking India’s Future’ (2014) which is a collection of his columns. He is a Senior Fellow, at the Center for Policy Research, (Delhi) and Chancellor of the Gokhale Institute of Economics and Politics (A Deemed University, Pune). He is also the Founding Director of Pahle India Foundation, a non-profit research organization that specializes in policy research and analysis. He presently serves on the Board of Management of King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center, Riyadh; Institute of Human Development, Delhi and Giri Institute of Development Studies, Lucknow. He is a Government of India nominee on the Boards of, Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and Asia, Jakarta; Central Board of the State Bank of India, Mumbai and Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Delhi.
He was Secretary General of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI, 2010-2012); Director & Chief Executive of the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER, 2006-2010); Member of National Security Advisory Board (2006-2008) and Chief Economist of the Confederation of India Industries (CII, 2004-2006.) He worked in the Asian Development Bank, Manila from 1995 to 2005. He joined the Government of India initially in the Ministry of Industries, Bureau of Costs and Prices (1989-1991) and then worked as Economic Advisor in the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance (1992 to 1995). He was a professor at the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Delhi (1987-89) and research program officer at ICRIER from 1982 to 1987. He has a D.Phil. in Economics from Oxford University and a Ph.D from Lucknow University.

Dr. Vineeta Shanker did her M.A. in Economics from Lucknow University in 1975, M.Philfrom IIT Kanpur in 1978 and Ph.D from Institut d' Etudes du Developpment Economicque et Sociale, Sorbonne, Paris in 1982. She has worked as a consultant with several multilateral organizations like ILO, UNDP, UNICEF and World Bank on issues like Equality and Protection of women workers in formal sector, Regional Impact of Financial Crisis, Gender Mainstreaming and Corruption and Governance. She acted as the project Director for World Faiths Development Dialogue, University of Birmingham from 2003 to 2005. Since 2006, she has been the Executive Director of Sasakawa India Leprosy Foundation.

Nirupama Soundararajan currently works as Senior Fellow at Pahle India Foundation (PIF). She has set up the Financial Sector Research Unit at PIF. Prior to this she worked as Additional Director and Team Lead for the Financial Sector Division at the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) where she was the lead author on the landmark report on “Why India Needs a Gold Policy. She also worked as Assistant General Manager – Economist in the Department of Strategy and Economic Intelligence with Bank of India, Head Office, Mumbai. She started her research career with the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER) where she co-authored the book titled ‘Retail in India’ (July 2009) published by Academic Foundation. She has worked extensively on the impact of organized retail on farmers.
She obtained an MSc. in Financial Economics and is an MBA (Finance) from Cardiff University, UK. She is currently pursuing her Post Graduate Diploma in Finance and Financial Law from Centre for Financial and Management Studies (CeFiMS), University of London.
Her broad areas of interest are related to macroeconomics, gold, finance and financial services, retail and e-commerce, commodities and education.

Arvind Kumar obtained a BA in Economics (Hons) from St Stephen’s College, Delhi in 1978 and a Post Degree Diploma in Management from the Indian Institute of Ahmedabad in 1980. He works in Pahle India as Senior Fellow and is heading the Political Analysis and Research Unit. His prior experience is in the Corporate Sector where he spent 32 years in different functions and territories. Some of the Companies he has worked for are Asian Paints, Marico, Pepsi Co, Dabur and Britannia.
He has exposure across a wide variety of functions and geographies, and has worked for 12 years as Chief Executive Officer.
As Chief Executive of international operations for Dabur and Britannia, he served out of Dubai and helped drive strategy and business overseas.
He has during his Corporate career, and especially since 2010 helped drive and administer Public Policy both from the firm’s and policy maker’s perspective, in different fora in domestic and International markets. He is well versed with the formulation and implementation legs of Public Policy and has consulted a series of Corporates across sectors on the same.

Saurabh Roy has over 6 years of experience in the financial markets having worked at Credit Suisse and Yes Bank. He was also a consultant to the Bihar State Power Holding Company, working on electricity distribution. His areas of interest are policy and inequality studies. Arindam Goswami holds a master degree in business economics from Guru Nanak Dev University (Amritsar) and is currently pursuing post-graduation in finance and financial law from University of London through SOAS. He holds a bachelor degree in business management specialising in finance. He has over 6 years of work experience in banking and research. Rajnish Ahuja holds a MBA degree from The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and Mechanical Engineering degree. He has 5 years of experience into research and analysis in Sustainable Energy and Transport with leading organizations. He has worked into Renewable Energy Policy domain, Carbon Foot Printing with European Investment Bank, Air Quality, Electric Vehicles, Fuel Cells and creating a directory of Renewable Energy organizations in the Asia Pacific for United Nations – Asian and Pacific Centre for Transfer of Technology.

Rajan Kalsotra holds a B.tech degree from Birla Institute of Technology, Mersa, Ranchi and Masters in Governance degree from MIT School of Government, Pune. His interest areas are Governance, Public Policy and Indian Political System. Prior to joining Pahle India Foundation, he worked with Tata Consulting Engineers Ltd as a Design Consultant. He has also worked in a Political Training Institute which imparts training to elected members in India. In the past, he has been associated with many elected members for the purpose of constituency development. Anupam Hazarika has done his Masters in Diplomacy, Law & Business from OP Jindal Global University and KU Leuven, Belgium. He has 2 years of valuable experience in the field of research and analysis in the developmental sector with specialization in environmental policy and research.
