Don Cheadle investigates closing of a meat packing plant in Texas. Thomas L. Friedman investigates the civil war in Syria. Harrison Ford investigates deforestation in Indonesia. All of these stories show how climate change is already impacting human lives worldwide.

Professor Katharine Hayhoe, a climate scientist at Texas Tech University, explains thathuman activities cause the climate to change. This contributes to more severe drought conditions that led to economic disaster for the local cattle ranchers and the workers in the town where the meat packing plant had to be closed. Dr. Hayhoe's skill atspeaking to the public about climate change has earned her a spot on the Time Magazine list of the100 most influential people of 2014.
