Website of the Nonlinear Dynamics Workgroup Welcome to the Website of the Nonlinear Dynamics Workgroup. Also available in presentation mode… WelcomeWelcome to the website of the Nonlinear Dynamics Workgroup (NDW) led by Milan Paluš. The workgroup is a part of theDepartment of Nonlinear Modeling of theInstitute of Computer Science which is an institute of theCzech Academy of Sciences.
Research StatementThe Nonlinear Dynamics Workgroup concentrates it's efforts on the detection andcharacterization of nonlinear phenomena in time seriesrecorded from complex systems. Based on ideas from theory of nonlineardynamicalsystems, deterministic chaos and information theory we develop methodsand algorithms suitable for analysis of multivariate time series ofvarious origins, ranging from atmospheric dynamics to signals recording the activity of the humanbrain. Mechanisms underlying observed complexbehaviour are researched and a range ofphenomena from nonlinearity to causalityare identified. Tools for studying interactions, namely foridentification of dependence, synchronization and causality aredeveloped. Some of these tools areavailable on this website.
