

The 100 Welsh Heroes on this site are here as a result of Wales' largest ever online poll. Between 8th September 2003 and 23rd of February 2004, Culturenet Cymru received over 80,000 nominations and votes in their quest to find the greatest Welsh men and women of all time.
The heroes featured hereshowcase the extraordinary talents of Welsh men and women through the ages, in almost all fields of human endeavour. Using this site you can study the achievements of all 100 heroes.
Founder of Welsh Methodism and the last great enthusiast
Howell Harris was one of the great dissenting voices of the 18th Century. A convert to Calvinistic Methodism, he would attract crowds of passionate followers to huge outdoor meetings. Harris founded the utopian community at Trefeca and exercised a lasting influence on Wales religious and intellectual culture.
