      Welcome to the official Website of PrasunBanerjee,the incumbent Member of Parliament (Loksabha) from HowrahSadar constituency. He is the first footballer to become the Memberthe Parliament.


      Prasun Banerjee has been a distinctivefootballer in the history of Indian Football. He used to playmostly as a Central Midfielder (sometimes Central DefensiveMidfielder) in 4-3-3 formation and as Left Half-back in 4-2-4formation. Prasun Banerjee was the Joint Captain of the IndianYouth Team along with Sabbir Ali which became Joint Champions withIran in Asian Youth Soccer Tournament at Bangkok.He also playedpivotal role in senior team's success in Asian games (playedthrice), Merdeka Cup, Pre-Olympics, Nehru Cup, Agha Khan Cup etc,which led him to win the Arjuna Award in 1979. His two goalsin the pre-quarter final against Bangladesh led India to Quarterfinals of Asian games in 1982. He was only the second Indian toplay for Asian All-star XI and he played two matches in Bangkok andmalaysia against Brazil for Asian All-star XI and played againstZico, Eder, Falcao, Socretes and others. He was included in theLimca book of record for representing India in 100 footballmatches.


      He had an extremely successful career with MohunBagan A.C. with 28 trophies in his 9 seasons. He was chosen in theall-time greatest XI of the club. After the famous Cosmos vs Mohunbagan match, the great Pele praised his performance by saying thatno. 7 (Prasun Banerjee), no. 14 (Gautam Sarkar) are world classmideos. e also had 9 trophies with Mohammedan Sporting Club,including Calcutta Football League in 1981.


      He did his full-time coaching degreefrom Deutsche Sporthochschule Köln (inter-coordinatedwith Deutscher Fussball Bund). He has been a member oftechnical committee of AIFF and contributed immensely in setting upseveral football academies. He is also the chief adviser of theGostho Pal Academy, which is set up by West BengalGovt.
