| Foundation: It was a great triennial conference! The Delta Omicron Foundation and its trustees were very much in evidence at the DO Triennial Conference in July 2012 in Lexington, Ky. Following the annual meeting of the trustees, which took place before conference started, the Foundation hosted its traditional luncheon on Friday. Speaking at the luncheon were David Macy, resident director of the MacDowell Colony, and Dr. Nickitas Demos, who received the Dr.Thor Johnson Memorial Commission from the Foundation for 2012. Coincidentally, Demos was a colonist at MacDowell in May of that year, and he gave his impressions of his experience of working at the colony.
After the luncheon, conference attendees heard the premiere of Demos' new work, "Rites of Passage," performed by Dr. Kenneth Long, clarinets (bass, E-Flat, and B-Flat), and Dr. Laura Gordy, piano. On the same program was the premiere of the Triennial Composition Competition winner, " The Foundationhas announced a continued goal this triennium to support the renovation of the Delta Omicron Studio at the MacDowell Colony.
