Barcelona has a fantastic sporting spirit that it has maintained throughout the years thanks to the large number of clubs in the city and its surrounding areas. Many of these clubs have already celebrated their centenaries (F.C. Barcelona, R.C.D. Espanyol, Barcelona Royal Tennis Club, Barcelona Yachting Club, etc). The city has managed to maintain a sporting tradition with its inhabitants thanks also to the large number of major sporting events that have been held in Barcelona. The expertise acquired in organising major international sports events is proof of Barcelona’s and Spain’s ability to host the 23rd ihf Men’s World Championship.
