New york - In a move that had been widely rumored for months, Showtime Networks Inc. announced its plans to launch five new value-added services: Showtime En Espanol, Showtime Family Television, Showtime Action Television, Showtime Comedy Television and Showtime Film Festival.

SNI also announced it would begin to test weekend-only monthly subscriptions of The Movie Channel premium network.

"Our goal here is to strengthen the premium category and redefine it as a multichannel subscription and expand the premium category into more home," said Nora Ryan, executive vice president of business development for SNI. "We want to give cable operators the opportunity …
