The RIDOT Geographical Information Systems Unit is placed in the Management Information Systems (MIS) section of Policy Planning. MIS is responsible for all computer hardware, software, and systems in the Department. The GIS Unit provides cartographic services, geographic data maintenance, and GIS assistance including application development to users. It consists of a GIS Manager and five GIS specialists.
Printed maps can be requested from the Rhode Island Department of Transportation by filling out theMap Request Form. This form must then be submitted to GIS at the DOT building in Providence. The request form can be read and completed using Adobe Acrobat Reader.
GIS also offers all of our maps in digital format. They are free to download from theDigital Map Site. These maps are stored in pdf format and can be read using AdobeAcrobat Reader. Some of these files are larger in size, as a result we recomend a high speed connection if possible for downloading them.
