Redesigning Spaces into People-oriented Environments
With the growth of these developments, the Company continues to invest in infrastructure improvements to enhance the pedestrian experience at the park.
The development and urban design will highlight the district’s distinctive character - its natural environment. People should be able to access the Cebu Park District and move within and around it easily and safely. Therefore, planning and re-designing will ensure that access is convenient and will emphasize connectivity and enhance personal safety. Improvements were done on pedestrian interconnections, covered walkways, and parking areas. There were also streetscape enhancements and environmental graphic design (EGD) upgrades.
Promoting a Sense of Community
With the district becoming a center for working, living, and gathering, community engagement is strengthened. To sustain the dynamism and vibrancy in the district, spaces are enhanced for people to congregate and participate in events particularly sports, entertainment, leisure, health and wellness activities. Partnerships are created with external groups, including neighboring communities, to organize events showcasing Cebuano arts and culture. These are important components that are planned to contribute to the attractiveness as a destination and enhance visitor experience. The district’s energy will be drawn from the 24/7 activities and the events that will be organized and promoted in the area.
Contributing to Cebu’s Economic Growth
These continued developments, coupled with the Ayala brand of property management has strengthened confidence in investing within these two developments. In Cebu Business Park, eight buildings are under construction. Cebu I.T. Park also continues to see bullish development with nine buildings under construction. In total, these developments will bring in almost 278,000 square meters for office, commercial and residential uses upon completion.
Today, the Cebu Business Park and the Cebu I.T. Park have close to 50,000 workers. With the current build-up, this number is expected to grow by 20 percent in 2012. With an accelerated build up, the district will be able to provide more opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship. Not only will they be able to increase their employment rates as more locators hold office in the parks, but they will also have opportunities to provide support services to improve livelihood via the increased traffic to and from the parks.
