A decade has passed since eleven Christian communions pledged in 2002 to live more closely together in expressing their unity in Christ and combating racism through their mutual relationships inChurches Uniting in Christ.

The decade has seen war, terrorism, disasters, economic collapse, strident political polarization, and increasing wealth disparity. Yet these church bodies have deepened their relationships and extended their common life.

In this next decade,CUIC looks forward to a greater public witness of reconciling the baptized and seeking unity with justice.

Churches Uniting in Christ is a covenant relationship among eleven Christian communions that have pledged to live more closely together in expressing their unity in Christ and combating racism together. The member churches of CUIC include the African Methodist Episcopal Church, the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, the Episcopal Church,the International Council of Community Churches, the Moravian Church (Northern Province), the Presbyterian Church (USA), the United Church of Christ and the United Methodist Church. The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is a partner in mission and dialogue.

CUIC Lifts Up Haiti

haitiFORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (1/28/11) —Churches Uniting in Christ (CUIC), established to foster visible unity and combat racism, took a major step toward those goals during a three-day meeting in Fort Lauderdale. Representatives from all CUIC member communions shared in leading the service, which focused on the healing and rebuilding in Haiti. An offering of $1,358 was collected to support Church World Service in its ongoing work there.Liturgies and reports are here.
