Starting on November 9, Glenn Beck evoked anti-Semitic stereotypes to attack a prominent Jewish philanthropist and Holocaust survivor. In his three-day “Puppet Master” series, Mr. Beck accused George Soros of “helping send the Jews to the death camps” while seeming to draw his material straight from the anti-Semitic forgery, the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.
Mr. Beck's behavior makes a mockery of Fox News’ repeated assurances to Jewish leaders that there was, in the words of Fox News executive and Glenn Beck producer Joel Cheatwood, a “unanimous understanding and agreement that the ultimate sensitivity must be exercised when referencing the Holocaust and they events leading up to it.” Falsely accusing a Holocaust survivor of “helping send the Jews to the death camps,” and then attacking him using anti-Semitic language and imagery, demonstrates no sensitivity whatsoever.
