Uninspired to say the least

Just seeing one episode of Skunk Fu is enough for everyone to realize how desperate the creators were for this show. The show is about a dragon who has started a war with the other creatures of the forest and plans to take over the world, so it's up to the remaining animals who haven't sided with Dragon to defeat him, and one in particular seems to be the key to victory. As if the story isn't bland and boring, it goes further south. The hero in this show is actually a skunk called, well Skunk, who is trained by a panda named, Panda. The first thing you will notice is that none of the characters have any real names. Rabbit is a rabbit, Fox is a fox, and so on. Did the creators just not have enough time to come up with names for the characters other than what animal they are? I would have been fine if Skunk was named Billy Bob Jones or something. Just give the animals actual names, not their species names. You know a show is going to be bad, when the creators can't even think of names for the characters. Speaking of the characters, they are all boring and one dimensional. While there is very little development as to why Dragon became evil, everyone else is just generic. Baboon is evil for the sake of being evil. The Ninja Monkies are brainless thugs. Rabbit is a generic tough guy. Panda is the stereotypical wise man. And Skunk is just a generic head strong and rebellious hero. Nobody has any interesting characteristics and are forgettable. The artwork is really awkward. While the scenery looks OK, the characters themselves are drawn weirdly. Most of the characters have legs that are WAY too skinny, and Fox seems to have no stomach. The animation feels rather stiff from time to time with characters that barely move or the same animation is used constantly. The fights themselves are OK, but not the best. Most of the fights have moves that seem to be rip offs of other Kung Fu movies or TV shows, but there are some original moves. As for the humor, while not the worse, there were very rare times where I even chuckled. The stories are just bland and usually involve Skunk learning something or Dragon trying to take the forest, but even then the stories offer nothing new or creative. Skunk Fu is just another one of those Kung Fu shows that sounded decent, but was just uninspired in every way. The characters have no depth, the story is bland, the humor is terrible, and the plots themselves are boring. If you want a good Kung Fu cartoon, go see Xiaolin Showdown instead.moreless
