Made in Brunel 2011 is about the people behind it and their shared journey.
In 2010, Made in Brunel built on the successes of previous years, where it returned to the Business Design Centre in London on the 8th, 9th and 10th of June to showcase this talent.
In a simple breakdown, it was described as Togetherness, Networking, Straight Forward and Innovative.
Innovation that Works highlighted a need for intelligent design with sound technological and structured thought. The ability of the graduates to work to such detail in all aspects of design was the driving force of Made in Brunel.
In 2009, Made in Brunel built on the successes of previous years, returning to the Business Design Centre in London on the 9th and 10th of June.
In its essence, Thinking Out Loud was about People, Fun and Innovation.
Thinking Out Loud also highlighted the student’s role in the future of design, engineering and multimedia. By sharing their thoughts on contemporary issues, they firmly placed themselves at the forefront of the next generation of engineers and designers.
In 2008 Made in Brunel was driven, managed and realised by a team of dedicated students. In addition to their heavy academic workload they volunteered to plan, execute and deliver the year’s collection of work to a global audience. Their passion, drive and enthusiasm characterise the spirit of Made in Brunel.
With the help of the team’s mission statement and brand guidelines, Made in Brunel became a consistent and easily recognisable brand that has continued to grow for years.
As Made in Brunel turned two, a fresh group of enthusiastic students headed up the team and set out to make the show bigger and better than 2006. They had some pretty big boots to fill!
Simon Gilbert and Jordon Chitty did a fantastic job of keeping everyone on the straight and narrow, as well as further building Made in Brunel as an international brand with the links with Tsinghua in China and the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. Sir Digby Jones, Joe Ferry, Marco Fainello and many other high profile speakers joined us for a little show and tell event called Pecha Kucha.
Realised, driven and managed by a team of dedicated students; the brand and show came into existence; celebrating the values of innovation, entrepreneurship and Brunel himself. The Made in Brunel show took place in the prestigious Gallery Hall of the Business Design Centre in Islington for the first time, presenting projects developed by graduate students of Brunel University with guest work on display from our partner university in China, Tsinghua.
A special book and DVD were designed and created completing the success of the first Made in Brunel show, presenting the whole School of Engineering and Design in an integrated way. It also became home to the IKB Awards this year; a competition for the best ideas in innovation, enterprise and engineering.
Made in Brunel was launched in 2005. For six years it has been gaining momentum, creating links between universities and industry in the fields of design and engineering. Each year, new students bring a unique viewpoint that enriches Made in Brunel.
