Quarter century places The Steve Miller Band at Diamond

Toronto - August 2003

Twenty-five years since its debut, one rock album scored high on timeless popularity when it topped the million unit mark in August.

The Steve Miller Band’s "Greatest Hits 1974-1978" (EMI Music Canada) achieved Diamond status in August with 1 million units shipped. Released in 1978 the album offers 24 favourites including The Joker and Fly Like an Eagle.

Dixie Chicks’ "Home" (Sony Music Canada Inc.) took back Triple Platinum with 300,000 units shipped.

On the home front, Big Sugar’s "Brothers and Sisters: Are You Ready?" (Universal Music) and hot rocker Sam Roberts’ "We Were Born in a Flame", also Universal, do Canada proud by reaching Gold with 50,000 units shipped.

The Canadian Recording Industry Association (CRIA) is a non-profit trade organization that was founded in 1964 to represent the interests of Canadian companies that create, manufacture and market sound recordings. CRIA’s membership is comprised of the major record companies, leading independent labels, and all manufacturers of compact discs and tapes. In all they represent 95% of the sound recordings that are manufactured and sold in Canada.
