Syngenta, Dow AgroSciences announce CIS supply and distribution agreement

 • Syngenta to supply and distribute Dow AgroSciences crop protection products in the CIS

 • Accelerates growth opportunities in CIS emerging markets

Syngenta and Dow AgroSciences, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company, today announced the signing of an exclusive supply and distribution agreement under which Syngenta will assume responsibility for the supply and distribution of Dow AgroSciences crop protection products in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) region. The countries include Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.

The CIS supply and distribution agreement will become fully operational on September 1, 2010, with the exception of Ukraine which is subject to regulatory approval. A number of the current Dow AgroSciences employees located in the CIS region will remain with Dow AgroSciences to support the supply and distribution agreement. Syngenta intends to offer employment to the remaining Dow AgroSciences employees affected by this agreement.

“This supply and distribution agreement builds on our strategy to expand our business in emerging markets,” said John Parr, Syngenta Regional Head EAME Crop Protection. “We see significant potential in Dow AgroSciences’ portfolio, which is highly complementary to our own.”

Financial details of the agreement, which will be subject to regular approvals from authorities, have not been disclosed. The Dow AgroSciences Seeds, Traits, & Oils businesses are not impacted by this agreement and will continue to be operated by Dow AgroSciences. AgroFresh will continue to be operated by current AgroFresh employees.
