Recruitment

We welcome your interest in the OWL Volunteer Fire Department. For the past 70 years, hundreds of local citizens have stepped up to train and provide the very best in fire suppression, EMS Care, and Rescue services. Today, our nearly 200 volunteers protect the citizens of and visitors to Woodbridge, Virginia 365 days/year. Career members of the Department of Fire and Rescue staff our apparatus Monday through Friday from 6:00AM to 6:00PM while the volunteers work and attend school.

To apply for Membership in the Department, you simply have to submit an application to the Membership Chairperson. You can apply in any of the following ways:

1. Complete the on-line application and submit it electronically to the Membership Chairman, or
2. Call the Membership Hotline at 1-888-OWL-JOIN (1-888-695-5646) and set up an appointment to meet with the one of Membership Committee members. They will be happy to answer your questions and assist you with the application, or
3. Download the application, complete it, and bring it to a Company meeting. You can deliver it to the Membership Chairperson at the meeting. The Company meeting is held on the first Friday of the month. The meeting is located in the Hall at Fire Station #2. The meeting starts at 7:00PM. Dinner is provided.

The OWLVFD is one the largest and busiest volunteer fire departments in the United States. Last year the Department responded to more than 8,000 911-calls for service. This resulted in nearly 20,000 runs. The OWLVFD provides fire suppression, EMS care, and Rescue services to 80,000 residents in our 27 square mile area. We also protect those citizens working on and enjoying the waterways of the Occoquan River, Potomac River, and Occoquan Reservoir with 3 Boats.
