Missy Elliott's a busy woman – her seventh album's coming out soon, and she's on MTV's
America's Best Dance Crew Thursday night – but she still thinks about settling down and having kids ... some day.
"I most definitely want kids, but I'll probably adopt kids," the37-year-old tells PEOPLE. "I don't know if I can take that kind ofpain [of labor]. Maybe in the year 2020 you could just pop a baby out and it'd be fine. But right now I'd rather just adopt."
On the MTV dance show, Elliott is set to perform her song "Shake Your Pom Pom," which she says will appear on the forthcoming
Block Party, but confesses to having her own favorite team in the competition.
"Something about Fannypack is different," she says. "They were the first group where I was like, 'Oh, they hot!'"
As for her own vaunted dancing skills, Elliott says she keeps in shape in a way any future children of hers will surely appreciate.
"I do Dance Dance Revolution," she says. "I'm not as good as the little kids that come in the arcade. Their little feet go crazy fast. I'm not that fast, but I'm good on it!"
