Missing TV presenter Mark Speight has been urged by his father to not "give up" and get in touch with the family.

Oliver Speight said he understood his son needed time to grieve after the death of his fiancee Natasha Collins.

But in a statement he added: "Please don't give up on us because we are not giving up on you."

Mark Speight, 42, was last seen boarding a London Underground train on 7 April. Miss Collins died at the couple's north London home in January.

The 31-year-old was discovered in a bath after the pair had taken cocaine, sleeping pills and alcohol.

Mark Speight, a children's presenter, was said to be in a "fragile state of mind" following the death.

Close family members have been leaving messages on his mobile phone since he went missing, urging him to tell them where he is and that he is OK.

His father said: "Mark, wherever you are or whatever you are doing to give yourself time to deal with your own personal grief, we totally understand but we need you to get in touch."

In February the presenter, who is originally from Wolverhampton, announced he was quitting the BBC children's art show SMart, which has run for more than 10 years.

Mark Speight, who has been staying with Miss Collins' mother, was reported missing when he failed to meet her for coffee on 7 April.

The presenter was captured on camera entering Queen's Park Tube station in north-west London at 1425 BST on that day and was last seen 22 minutes later boarding a Bakerloo Line train towards the centre.

Det Insp Declan Williams, from the Metropolitan Police, said: "Since appeals have been issued, a number of people have been in contact with us.

"In some cases we have received further information regarding additional sightings in Bournemouth, St Albans and London.

"I have to stress at this moment in time they are unconfirmed and that we are now in the process of following up each of these possible sightings."

Mark Speight was initially arrested on suspicion of murder and supplying Class A drugs, but last month Scotland Yard said he would not face any charges over the death.

He had been planning a tribute concert in memory of Miss Collins, his best friend said.
