New freeway lanes have been constructed along the southern and western perimeter of EssendonAirport over a 2 km workfront between Bulla Road and English Street.

The project was planned, designed and constructed under an Alliance agreement between VicRoads, Baulderstone Hornibrook and Parsons Brinckerhoff.

Melrose Drive Upgrade

The Tullamarine Calder Interchange Alliance has undertaken an upgrade project along Melrose Drive in Airport West to ease congestion and improve safety. The project included:

• Removing a roundabout at Melrose Drive / Mascoma Street / Westfield Drive and replacing it with traffic signals
• Installing traffic signals and reconfiguring Matthews Avenue to enter Melrose Drive at the Dromana Avenue intersection
• Providing a new right hand turn from Dromana Avenue to the Tullamarine Freeway on ramp
