I think Candice Bergen is fantastic!hideshow

Candice Bergen is one of my all time favourite actresses; as I said in the summary, I think she's fantastic and I have nothing but respect for her. She is always elegant, articulate, gracious and beautiful. One thing I have always admired about her is her range - she can do anything from comedy (And she's not afraid to poke fun at herself, which I love.) to serious drama - and she aces it all! I have NEVER seen her act badly, which is more than I can say for almost every actor around today. Even though her first film was forty years ago, she still has a freshness about her, an aura which only the true greats have. I would liken her to Lauren Bacall in this respect. I love her in Boston Legal (And everything else I've ever seen her in, but let's go with this ;P). Shirley is the type of character who could easily be two dimensional and the type of character who splits the audience down the middle - dividing it into those who love her and those who hate her. Instead she is totally three dimensional and complicated. I suppose what I'm saying is that she's real. Although Ms. Bergen plays some larger than life characters (eg Kathy Morningside in Miss Congeniality.) they never seem melodramatic, sure, larger than life and maybe even a little unreal but they're always well acted and they never spill over into "Bold & The Beautiful" territory. This, my friends is a skill. Kathy, for example, would be an easy character to play melodramatically, but she didn't. Kathy was my favourite character in that film, all her scenes were priceless - One of my favourites being when she stands up behind her desk, in front of a life size picture of a Miss United States winner and the crown appears to be on her. So simple but so effective!

I have to say that I'm surprised she hasn't won an Oscar yet! She is, in my opinion, one of the greatest actresses of this generation and, again, she deserves an Academy Award.

I've realised that she has become somewhat a role model to me. I try to conduct myself with her class, integrity and grace. To Candice: Thank you for being such a wonderful role model.

To you: If you have any interest at all, I'd certainly recommend looking up some of her work. You wont regret it : )
