Earth Song (1975) Deep pink grandiflora. The medium-sized, long-pointed to urn-shaped buds of tyrian red (RHSCC 66A) open to double (25-30 petals), cupped, 4-4.5 inch blooms which pale as they open to tyrian rose (RHSCC 66D). The sweetly fragrant blooms are borne both singly and in clusters of 5-10. The leathery, dark green foliage is tinted with copper when young and has good resistance to both Blackspot and Powdery Mildew. The thorns are red-brown and flanged awl-like. The erect plant is bushy and free-flowering from early June to killing frost. The plants are winter-hardy in Iowa to 10-12" without protection.

El Catala(1981) Red blend grandiflora. The ovoid-pointed buds of dark red and silvery pink buds open slowly to double (30-40 petals), open, cupped, 4-4.5 inch blooms of post Office red (RHSCC 45B) on the face of the petals and very pale neyron rose (RHSCC 56C) on the reverse. The general effect is a crimson/silver bi-colored flower. The red coloring may intensify and darken upon exposure to heat and sun. The blooms are borne in clusters of 1-8 and have a light, sweet fragrance. The large, glossy foliage is dark green and has good resistance to Blackspot and Powdery Mildew. The thorns are brown (RHSCC 172A) and awl-like. The erect, 3-3.5 ft plant is slightly bushy and free-flowering from June until killing frost. the plants are winter-hardy in Iowa without protection.

Ellen's Joy(1989) Light pink shrub. The plants are winter-hardy in Iowa without protection.

 

 

 

Enchanted Autumn(1976) Orange blend grandiflora. The medium-sized, ovoid-pointed buds open to double (30-35 petals), shallow-cupped, 4-4.5 inch blooms of spinel red RHSCC 54B, washed and tinted with light Saturn red (RHSCC 30C). The blooms, borne singly and in clusters of 5-10, have an intense, sweet fragrance. The abundant, glossy foliage is dark coppery green. The thorns are red-brown and awl-like. The upright plants are bushy and bloom freely from early June to killing frost. The plants are winter-hardy in Iowa without protection.
