| Film: 'Nov. 2nd 1925. The Dolgarrog Disaster' (1925)Black and white silent movie of the Dolgarrog Disaster, November 1925, held by the National Screen and Sound Archive. This footage shows the utter devastation caused by a breach in the Llyn Eigiau dam, which in turn caused a breach in the Coety reservoir dam and the arrival of tonnes of water in the village of Dolgarrog, in the Conwy valley, killing sixteen people. Such was the interest in the disaster - with huge boulders and other debris strewn about - that the police had to erect a road block to keep back the hordes of onlookers who were obstructing relief operations. Three clips from the film are shown here. | |
