Google Pixel Phones Are Now Getting Android 13 September Security Update With 32 Vulnerabilities Fixed
While I have a strong reason to believe thatAndroid 14 is going to launch next month instead of the supposed September release. Google has started pushing out the September 2023 security update for all supported Pixel phones, fixing several vulnerabilities in total. Sadly, you are still stuck with Android 14, but something is still better than nothing.
Sadly, Android 14 is still not in sight, but Google is pushing out the new September security update based on Android 13 for all Pixel devices
The new Android 13 build carries the build number TQ3A.230901.001 on most Pixel phones. Google did not share much about what is fixed and what is not fixed. However, the company has mentioned this:
The September 2023 update includes security patches for Pixel users. See the Android Security bulletin and the Pixel Security bulletin for details.
The update has started rolling out to all the supported Pixel devices. This means that devices ranging from Pixel 4a 5G to Pixel Fold are receiving the update. The vanilla 4a is not receiving the update, as expected.
Earlier this month, Google shared the Android Security Bulletin for September 2023, which lists the specific vulnerabilities that Google fixed with the latest update. In total, the latest update manages to handle 32 issues, both hardware and software. Which is an impressive thing, to say the least.
The latest Google monthly security update is currently rolling out on all supported Pixel phones and tablets. The update normally completes its rollout in a week. This means that you can expect the update to hit your device anytime. If you are not really eager to flash the new update file, then you have nothing to worry about, as you can just wait it out. The new Android 13-based Pixel security update does not bring any major change to how you are going to use your phone, so there is nothing to worry about.
With this out of the way, I am really hoping that the next time Google releases an update, it will be Android 14. If not, then you can expect the update to start rolling out onOctober 4, the same day as Google's event for its flagship devices.
