Biography[]
Modern Age[]
John "Jack" Monroe was a student at Stanford University in the 1960's. He was brilliant but a social outcast owing to his thin frame and narrow features, which earned him the nickname "weasel" by his peers and made him the target of constant bullying. The constant torment drove Monroe to become a sociopath and, decades later, a serial killer.
As an adult, Monroe became a teacher at Vandemeer University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where a number of his fellow childhood students now held prominent positions. Monroe was rarely noticed by his contemporaries, but convinced himself that they were constantly plotting behind his back to prevent his acquisition of tenure. He developed a light but flexible and rugged fur costume suit, equipped with claws on four fingers of each hand and began stalking his peers using the identity of Weasel. He murdered three of his associates before turning his sights on his newest supposed rival, Martin Stein.
Stein was also a contemporary of Monroe, having attended Standford University with him but at first having no recollection of Monroe whatsoever. Believing that Stein was also one of his tormentors, Weasel made two attempts on Stein's life. After the first attempt, Stein was able to piece together his attacker's true identity, which lead to Weasel making a second attempt. In the second attempt, he would have succeeded in murdering Stein had not Stein triggered the transformation into Firestorm. Firestorm defeated Weasel and unmasked him. Weasel revealed his motivations to the hero, causing Stein to take pity on him before handing him over to the authorities for incarceration.
Weasel was one of a number of villains recruited into theSuicide Squad for their ill-fated mission to rescue Hank Hall, the Hawk. During the mission, Weasel managed to cause the apparent death ofThinker. Rick Flag, Jr. was then told by the Thinker helmet to murder Weasel, which he did.
During the Blackest Night, Weasel's body was among those entombed in the Hall of Justice. When the Black Power Rings flew in, Weasel was reanimated by the Black Power Rings and inducted into theBlack Lantern Corps.
The New 52[]
In September 2011,The New 52 rebooted DC's continuity. In this new timeline, Jack Monroe / Weasel is re-established in theForever Evil storyline, depicted in a more animalistic state. He was lurking in Central Park when Steve Trevor andKiller Frost were looking forCheetah (who was in possession of Wonder Woman's lasso). Weasel ambushed Steve Trevor and Killer Frost where he was frozen by a reluctant Killer Frost. Killer Frost told Steve Trevor that Weasel is considered a joke compared to villainsBlack Bison andMultiplex. Before Steve Trevor and Killer Frost press on, Killer Frost apologizes to Weasel.
Other Versions[]
In Batman #666 (July 2007), a special issue set 15 years in the future, a different Weasel is shown as an enemy of Damian Wayne, who has become Batman following Dick Grayson's death.
Powers and Abilities[]
Weasel is a superb athlete, gymnast, and martial artist. Where these skills were obtained is unrevealed. Otherwise, he has no superhuman abilities. The claws built into the gloves of the Weasel costume were strong enough to rend bone.
Other Media[]
Television[]
Batman Beyond[]
Weasel was known for his high pitched holler. He was part of Terminal's subgroup ofJokerz, but also attended other gatherings. He was armed with a flail, but also carried heavier equipment underneath his coat. This Jokerz gang member inBatman Beyond was never referred to by name in the cartoon. However, he was named Weasel in issue 12 of theBatman Beyond comic.
Batman: The Brave and the Bold[]
Solomon Grundy used this little slime to do the talking for him, as Grundy could only grunt. Possibly the real power within Grundy's gang of crooks. He was arrested by Batman and Black Canary when the gang tried to steal the brain of a Nobel Prize winner.

Weasel (John Monroe) makes a non-speaking cameo appearance in the Harley Quinn episode "Icons Only" as a Las Vegas performer.

Despite being outwardly erratic and animalistic, Weasel may be a lot more sophisticated than initially thought in his DCEU counterpart. He had no intention of harming the children, and was couteous and kind towards their acceptance. He even went out of his way to save one child, taking several bullets in his futile attempt. Even during the mission in Pokolistan, he was generally cooperative and friendly towards his teammates, only harming those who attacked him. Unfortunately, the circumstances surrounding his crimes frammed him as a savage beast with no consciousness.
Background;Weasel was implied to be human before his transformation. Due to his sickly and animal-like appearance, he was shunned by society. One fateful day, he formed a bond with a group of schoolchildren offering him some food and was accepted into their group. As he continued to play with them, a good-intentioned man spots him presumedly attacking the children and calls the police. Later that night, Weasel and the children played in the school's basement with a box of matches and a bottle of alcohol.
The man, armed with a shotgun, spots Weasel playing with the children. Believing he's harming them, he shoots at Weasel, but ends up causing an explosion due to puncturing a nearby gastank, igniting both the lit matches and spilled alcohol. Most of the children died, but Weasel attempted to save a girl he befriended earlier. Unfortunately, the authorities that arrived believed he had killed all the children himself and not from the explosion. Despite his best attempts, the authorities (believing he was carrying the girl's corpse) shoot and detain Weasel, preventing him getting the girl out of the building. He would continue to suppress this tragic event for the rest of his life.
Pokolistan Mission; After the missionProject Starfish in Corto Maltese, Weasel became one of few survivors and was captured again, returning to Belle Reve. He been selected again as a new member of Task Force M byAmanda Waller, on a mission to country Pokolistan to protect princessIlana Rostovic fromCirce and theSons of Themyscira from taking the kingdom. Weasel andDoctor Phosphorus hear Rick Flag, Sr. have sex with Ilana Rostovic in bathroom and protect them when Alexi ask them where princess. When the Bride and Nina Mazursky went missing, the Team began searching for them.
Circe enter castle to Assassinate Princess Ilana, until Weasel saved her attacking Circe down, while Phosphorus began burning her face. She was the taken in custody with that mission complete. Return his client came, has proof Weasel is innocent of "murder of twenty-seven children (there only eight children) then later the Creature Commandos were sent to a new mission to kill IIana Rostovic, since she brings the world end.
