Stitches, also known under his civilian nameMr. Grayson, is the secondary antagonist of the 2005 superhero comedy filmSky High.

He’s the henchman of the legendary supervillainessRoyal Pain who raised her after she accidentally been turned into a baby after her first vengeful attempt of terrorizing Sky High failed, thanks to both of her old archenemies the Commander and Jetstream, in order for her to implement that plan again. He physically bears a strong resemblance to that of a court jester.

He was portrayed byJim Rash, who also voiced theRiddler in the 2019 DC animated seriesHarley Quinn andThe Fixer in My Dad the Bounty Hunter

Appearance[]

He appears in his Stitches masquerade as a court jester-like figure wearing gray clown outfit, a tall gray jester's hat, with white facepaint and black lipstick. He has fashioned his lipstick into a pointed star; much like his hat. He’s rather tall and gangly.

In his disguise as Mr. Grayson, his hair is militaristic and swept back, emphasizing his large forehead. He wears a black suit with a necktie and glasses.

Personality[]

A sniveling sycophant, Stitches might’ve not have looked like a threat at first glance however he was indeed dangerous in his own right. For instance, he raised Royal Pain again from her second childhood, and he taught her in the art of villainy and so made her much more dangerous than before. While appearing as a simple court jester and sporting a clownish personality, this was most likely a façade because his real nature as Grayson was very cold, stern and intimidating. But some of Grayson's aloof nature carried into Stitches because he was cold-bloodedly removed from disasters; as seen when he took the takeover of the school and turning all of the students, teachers and Will’s parents into babies.

He was so removed, however, that he didn't even react to being defeated and imprisoned. When he tried to comfort Gwen, she snapped and choked him again, causing him to plead "Uncle!" and getting his colleagues all laughing at him. He didn't fear enemies; he only feared his mistress, Royal Pain, because she was unpredictable and ruthless. As well as her being harsh on his failures.

History[]

As Royal Pain's minion, he was assigned into helping her destroy Sky High and raise new heroes into villains with the usage of a weapon called the Pacifier (who can turn anyone into a baby). However, they were caught by the superhero couple (Commander and Jetstream), and during the fight, the Pacifier exploded, seemingly killed Royal Pain. However, in actuality, Royal Pain was turned in a baby and Stitches took her away, keeping themselves away from the authorities.

For the next 17 years, Stitches raised Royal Pain as his daughter, hoping for another comeback. Taking on the name Mr. Grayson while, he helped Royal Pain (who took on as his daughter Gwen) plan out her revenge by getting her back into Sky High, where she enrolls three other students (Penny Lent,Speed andLash) to help her do her dirty work. After Royal Pain finally recovered the Pacifier and revealed herself to everyone during the Homecoming Dance, Stitches laughed maniacally as he watches her turning everyone in the gym into babies.

Stitches then try to load up the babies into a bus while Will Stronghold (the son of Commander and Jetstream) and several heroes deal with Royal Pain and her other cohorts. After loading up the bus, Stitches attempt to get in, only to find Ron Wilson (the local bus driver) awaiting for him. Ron then punches Stitches out from the bus, claiming that he himself is the only person who can ride superheroes to school.

After Royal Pain is defeated, Stitches, along with Royal Pain and their cohorts, are placed inside the school's detention room before being sent to prison for their crimes.

Trivia[]

Stitches' look, joking personality and role in the movie makes him similar to theBatman villainHarley Quinn, the henchwoman of theJoker. Unlike Harley, however, Stitches is a male, and is also less sympathetic in comparison (especially given Harley's later incarnations, whereshe eventually broke herself away from being with the Joker).
- Ironically, his portayer Jim Rash would later be involved in a Harley Quinn-related project, specifically the adult-animated series of the same name (where he voiced that show's version of fellow villain the Riddler).
