Biography
Jane is a busybody and creator of the jungle's laws, who does not believe an elephant named Horton about the Whos and Whoville on the dust speck (mainly due to being under the misapprehension that anything which cannot be seen, heard, or felt is nonexistent). She hires a vulture namedVlad Vladikoff to steal the clover bearing the speck for her. When he fails, she orders her henchmen, a group of monkeys known asthe Wickersham Brothers, to take the speck from Horton and intimidate him into saying that the Whos do not exist.
After everybody could hear the Whos, her sonRudy jumped out of his mother's pouch and returned the speck to Horton, much to Sour's dismay. Jane tells everyone to take the clover from her son, only to be shunned by everyone for lying and tricking them. In the end, Horton forgives her despite everything she has done to him. She then joins Horton and the others in singingCan't Fight This Feeling Anymore.
In the Netflix cartoon, she's been de-aged to be a kid, like Horton and now owns a toy joey named Lindy Laroo which she keeps in her pouch. Here, her status has been heavily downgraded and is more of a bratty girl, stealing stuff and causing problems around the Jungle of Nool that Horton and his new bird friend, Samson, try to solve.
Trivia

- She holds the distinction for being the only main antagonist in Blue Sky Studios' active history to be biologically female.Madame Gasket fromRobots is technically genderless since she's a mechanical entity.
- Additionally, Jane is the only main antagonist in said studio to be voiced by a female, since Gasket herself was voiced byJim Broadbent.
- In the 2008 film, A yak, a deer and his flock of birds were shown hiding and running away from the Sour Kangaroo where she’s approaching her way, it might be possible that the animals were bullied by the Sour Kangaroo before the event of the story.
