~ Skeleton King declaring war on the Hyperforce and his final line in the show.
TheSkeleton King is the main antagonist of the Japanese-American animated seriesSuper Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go!. He is an undead warlord who is bent on unsealing the ancient beings known as theDark Ones.
Originally, the Skeleton King was the Alchemist, a sorcerer who served Shuggazoom City through different contributions such as the crime-fighting Super Robot Monkeys, but after his primate assistantMandarin accidentally got his soul corrupted with the essence of the Dark Ones, the Alchemist entrusted his creations to stop himself once he transformed into the Skeleton King. He is also the arch-nemesis ofChiro, the protagonist of the show.
The Skeleton King used to be a sorcerer called the Alchemist who used his knowledge of both magic and science to benefit Shuggazoom City. One day, he accidentally opened a portal which was meant to be an interdimensional window of sorts to an immensely-evil dimension known as the Netherworld and was corrupted by a monster that was one of the Netherworld's denizens known as the Dark Ones. He built the Super Robot Monkeys to protect the world from the evil monsters whose essence would soon transform him into their worst enemy. Once he finished modifying the robots, he submitted himself to the transformation into the Skeleton King.
As the Skeleton King, he rules over a large armada of the undead known as the Formless, who serve his goal - the eradication of all life on Shuggazoom City. He moves around the universe in his Citadel of Bone, and is connected to it. Since he cannot leave the Citadel, he assigns his herald, the TV Monster to act as his emissary and lead assaults against Shuggazoom City.
It is later revealed that one of the Dark Ones was buried beneath Shuggazoom City and was asleep. To ensure that the Dark One was freed, the Skeleton King assigned one of his monsters, a shapeshifting elevator being capable of teleportation to kidnap the citizens of Shuggazoom and create the basis for his plan to free them; he would order the inmates to dig continuously. Due to the Hyperforce's efforts, this plan is foiled, but it allowed the undead warlord to initiate the base of his plan later in the future.
After Mandarin, the sixth monkey was freed, Skeleton King bargained with him for the entire Hyperforce. Mandarin sent the Hyperforce, save for Chiro to him, much to the undead overlord's annoyance, but gave him a 'gift' by creating the Hyper Formless. After Mandarin was defeated and fled to an unknown planet, Skeleton King accepted Mandarin as his servant and transformed him into an even powerful cybernetic monkey hybrid, becoming the Supreme Destructor. He later ordered him to get hold of Chiro as the monkeys were planning to safely place Chiro in a secure underground bunker. Mandarin, alongside Sakko successfully capture the monkeys but fail to get Chiro and Gibson.
The Skeleton King later orders Mandarin to reprogram the monkeys to be obedient to him as he prepares for a large scale invasion of Shuggazoom City. However, Chiro and Gibson successfully grab his attention and divert him using the Super Robot, while infiltrating the Citadel of Bone to retrieve their comrades. After the Robot is immobilized, Skeleton King sends the TV Monster to seek through the Robot for Chiro, but the herald returns empty-handed, which makes him realize that Chiro was within his domain. Using the Pit of Ooze, he captures and brings Chiro towards him and begins to attack him, until the Super Robot, remote-controlled by the Monkeys starts to attack the Citadel and damage it, causing the undead monarch immense pain. Chiro burns the Skeleton King's face, which heals itself immediately, and the enraged warlord transforms his staff into a scythe like staff, attacking Chiro, only for the boy to activate the Power Primate and throw him into a Formless Ooze Pit.
After his revival in the final episode, the Skeleton King became much more powerful than his previous form.
Personality[]
“
You're no king. You're a slave!
„
~ Chiro to the Skeleton King (regarding his allegiance to the Dark Ones).
The Skeleton King wants nothing else than to take over the world and enslave the inhabitants. However, he is merely a servant to far more powerful entities, the Dark Ones, and his goal in Shuggazoom is to release theDark One Worm, his true master. He completes this in the second season finale only for the worm to be decapitated. The worm regenerates and merges with the Skeleton King's head becoming the Skeleton King Worm. Before he could destroy Planet Earth on his galaxy destroying quest, the Hyperforce destroy the worm. The Skeleton King would make his final return in the final episode with a large army of the dead for final conquest. The series ended before we saw his final fate.
He has no mercy for the living upon his revival in the finale. Despite the fact Valeena revived him, Skeleton King kills her without any hesitation for reasons unexplained.

Trivia[]
He is the first main antagonist of a Disney television series to be voiced by Mark Hamil, the second isAbraham Kane.
Despite his name, Skeleton King isn't truly a skeletal and properly undead being into the series finale. His body still had organs in it, even if he's cybernetic. His head is some kind of petrified flesh; with the crystal skull being his true altered bone.
Interestingly, Mark Hamil had already voiced a skeleton-themed villain, theRed Lynx inSWAT Kats: The Radical Squadron and would later go onto voice another skeleton-themed villain,Skeletor inMasters of the Universe: Relevation.
A popular theory among the fans of the cartoon is that he’s Chiro's father because in the episode of the same name, Skeleton King has a collection of Chiro's toys.
It's worth noting he is capable of cruel mercy. He kills Valeena with a quick disintegration rather than torment her.
Both of his major designs bare resemblance to certain villains:
His first design resemblesSkull fromCyborg 009, a series speculated to have had an influence onSuper Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go!.
His second design, upon being resurrected, resembles that ofDarth Vader, which if intentional, is fittingly ironic, as Mark Hamill played Vader's son Luke Skywalker in theStar Wars films.
