Rtas 'Vadum is a supporting character in bothHalo 2 andHalo 3, and the protagonist of bothThe Last Voyage of the Infinite Succor andHalo: Shadow of Intent. He was aSangheili Commander of theCovenant Army before the Great Schism, being extremely loyal to the empire and was the only known Elite who held the title of Special Operations Commander in the Halo series, allowing him to control every Spec Ops unit. When the Great Schism, he was one of the leaders ofCovenant Separatists and served as the Shipmaster ofShadow of Intent.
He was voiced byRobert Davi, who also portrayedFranz Sanchez inLicense to Kill,Jake Fratelli inThe Goonies,Max Keller inRaw Deal,Goran Vata inExpendables 3,Robert Masterson inThe Taking of Beverly Hills,Hans Zarba inSon of the Pink Panther andAlejandro Sosa inScarface: The World Is Yours.
History[]
He helped ArbiterThel 'Vadam during his suicidal missions and sent SpecOps units to assist in eliminating theHeretics and retrieving the Index at the Library. Rtas then become one of the heads of the Covenant Separatists alongside the Arbiter and Imperial Admiral Xytan Jar Wattinree. He glassed the half of Africa on Earth with his ships, eliminating the Flood on Earth but Humanity lost half of a continent. 'Vadam and his fleet alongside the UNSC fleet then followed the Prophet of Truth to Installation 00, the Ark, to prevent him from firing the Halo Array. After the war, Rtas and Thel along with the remaining Elites returned to Sanghelios.
Personality[]
Rtas 'Vadum is a quick, smart, and ingenious tactician and an unparalleled fighter, especially with an Energy Sword, and is an excellent leader. He is also a good decision-maker and chooses to spend lives very carefully. Very much like his friend Thel 'Vadam, Rtas is able to think outside the box and does not rigidly adhere to the Sangheili's code of honor when it does not benefit him. He expresses great care for his soldiers, even the Unggoy/Grunts, even warning them to take cover behind the Sangheili when danger presented itself. In time, Rtas has begun to have respect for certain humans, Master Chief in particular. 'Vadum is one of only two known Sangheili to call Chief "Spartan" rather than "Demon", the other being the Arbiter.
