Mickey’s Dangerous Double[]
Mickey’s Unwelcome Return[]
Mickey andGoofy have returned from their journey in space. And after a little situation with Goofy accidentally throwing away an alien substance called “bleerium”, everything seems to be back the way things were. Mickey gets excited by the thought of seeing his girlfriendMinnie Mouse again. He pulls up in his car beside Minnie on the sidewalk, but Minnie shuns him. Mickey, confused as to why Minnie doesn’t appear to be glad to see him, continues driving. He spots his old friendHorace Horsecollar and attempts to greet him, but Horace just walks away. No matter who Mickey tried to greet, he was turned away; babies and puppies. Mickey, confused, goes to Goofy to see if the same thing has happened to him since there return. Unlucky, Mickey sees a note on from Goofy off his door saying that he has gone away.
Mickey, lonely, goes home to call Minnie to ask what’s happening, but Minnie hangs up after she realized that it was Mickey calling. He goes upstairs, long for answers, but he is shocked to find his bed, messy. Swearing to himself that he made his bed before he left, Mickey comes to the conclusion that someone has been sleeping in his bed. Mickey, frightened, hears that his shower is on and dripping water. He goes to investigate, and finds an ominous note in the shower, “BE CAREFUL!”. Suddenly the shower door slams closed with Mickey inside! The shower suddenly starts going off full blast, filling the shower. Mickey concludes someone is trying to drown him. He continuously kicks the shower door until it finally breaks and drains, leaving Mickey alive, but wondering “who”, and “why”. Mickey goes to his bed closing the bathroom door behind him. He puts on his pajamas and watching himself in the mirror on the bathroom door. He gets in his bed before realizing, his reflection did match himself; he was putting on pajamas his “reflection” had on a turtle-neck sweater. He checks out the door and finds that the mirror on that door had been replaced with plain glass. Mickey returns to bed but jumps, seeing that his shadow is carrying a wrench, appearing to be aimed at his real self. But, upon turning around, Mickey’s shadow returns to normal and Mickey thinks that he must just be jumpy and imagined it.
Sure someone is trying to murder him, Mickey tries to callChief O’Hara from the police, only to realize his phone cords been cut, with a note left behind; “SORRY!”. Beginning to get annoyed by the notes, Mickey prepares to fight and grabs his bat when the door is knocked. Mickey goes to the door, bat raised, to discover that the man at the door was actually Chief O’Hara and Officer Finnegan, who advises Mickey put down the “blunt instrument”. The Chief and the Officer let themselves in. Mickey explains to them that someone has tried to murder him, but is surprised to learn that the Chief is there to arrest him. Mickey doesn’t understand. He explains to the Chief that he hasn’t done anything wrong, when he trips on a lump under his carpet. The Chief lifts up the carpet to find a pile of jewels. Chief questions Mickey, who claims he doesn’t know where the jewels have come from. The Chief orders the Officer to look in one of Mickey’s closets, to which they find stolen auto tires. Mickey, shocked, yet again claims he knows nothing of the stolen items when the Chief finds a lollipop stolen from his own son, 5 month old O’Hara Junior as he laid helpless in his carriage. Chief says that he must take Mickey to the station, when all of a sudden, the lights go out. Bang!; a gun if fired at the officers, luckily only shooting a hole in O’Hara’s hat. The go on, and Mickey is holding the pistol. Mickey claims someone put the list in his hand when the lights went out, but he realizes that his excuses are futile and decides to goes down to the station. As they leave, Chief O’Hara asks why Mickey, one of his oldest friends, did those things, to which Mickey insists he’s been framed, as a silhouetted Miklos watches from afar chuckling.
Chief O’Hara and Officer Finnegan take Mickey to the station and show him a truck unloading thing found at his house; a tricycle, fur coat, a bike, and a stop sign. Chief, since he’s his friend, gives Mickey 24 hours to prove his innocence. Mickey agrees and asks to synchronize his watch with the Chief, before he realizes that the watch in his pocket is actually O’Hara’s, which was stolen from him last week.
Mickey returns home contemplating how he has 24 hours to prove his innocence. But, as Mickey walks up to the house, he sees that the lights are on in his house, despite him not leaving them on when he left. When he looks in his house, he is shocked to see none other than himself, or at least Miklos in disguise. Mickey watches in disbelief! The mouse even reads mysteries like him. Mickey asks himself, “If he’s me…who am I?” Mickey knocks on the door to face his doppelgänger. Miklos answers, and Mickey yells that he is the real one. Miklos, still pretending to be Mickey, yells that the real Mickey is out of his mind and slams the door in his face. Mickey stays at the porch, planning how he’ll get into the house when, wham!, Mickey is knocked out by Miklos, who bring him into the house and ties him to a chair.
Blackmailing Mickey[]
Miklos wakes up Mickey with a splash of water from a pot. Miklos calls himself a “friend” you borrowed Mickey’s name while he was in space. Mickey yells at Miklos for stealing his name, clothes, and house all to mask his own crimes, as well as being the reason none of his friends speak to him. Miklos whips out a picture of Mickey’s dog,Pluto, and asks if Mickey recognizes the photograph. Mickey does and says that Pluto's at his Grandmother’s farm. “was on [his] Grandmother’s farm” Miklos corrects before explaining that Pluto will be safe as long as Mickey does exactly what he says. Mickey calls him “rat” but Miklos says he can call him Mister Mickey Mouse instead. Miklos unties Mickey and forces him to cook him a meal.
The next morning, Miklos orders Mickey to get lost since Minnie is coming to the house and she has someone with her. Mickey obeys and hides in a closet as Minnie enters. Minnie says good morning to Miklos, still under the impression that he’s Mickey, and introduces famous psychiatrist, Dr. Heza Dhilly. Minnie explains how the doctor is here to help him, since from her point of view, Mickey has just randomly switched personalities into such a dreadful person. Miklos sarcastically remarks how the doctor looks like he could use some help himself. Minnie asks for the doctor to be treated with respect. Miklos brings in Minnie and the doctor as the real Mickey watches angrily from the closet. Miklos tells the doctor to sit down before swiping the chair from under him, causing the doctor to fall. Minnie apologizes to the doctor and Miklos demands they stop bothering him and leave, to which they do. Mickey comes back out and watches as they leave, worried Minnie will never forgive him and that he, “ought to wring out [Miklos’s] neck”. In response, Miklos warns Mickey that what ever he does to him will happen to Pluto. Miklos then informs Mickey that he has a lot of jobs to pull he turns him over to the police.
Mickey Follows Miklos[]
Before Miklos leaves for the day, Mickey devises a plan to follow him and find where Pluto is; he sprays Miklos with the awful cologne Goofy gave him for Christmas and claim he wears it every day, so Miklos must also to pass as Mickey. That way, Mickey can smell Miklos all the way to his hideout. With Miklos’s horrid odor, Mickey sniffs and sniff til he’s lead to a flower market, implying the clever crook caught on to Mickey’s scheme and walked through a place that would surely cover his scent. Luckily, Mickey spots him and continues following him all the way to a phone booth. In the phone booth, he finds a paper in the floor with a phone number on it. Taking a chance, Mickey dials the number and a secret door opens leading to a passageway, leading to a toy factory. Mickey admires the realistic toys, til he hears someone coming and he disguises himself as a toy. To Mickey’s surprise, it’s Chief O’Hara.
The Chief passes Mickey. Mickey watches the Chief in suspicion, for he’s acting strange. Mickey goes to check out the room the Chief came from and finds Pluto, starving, in chains, with nothing but an empty dog bowl. Pluto growls at Mickey, confusing him for Miklos, but realizes he’s the real Mickey after further sniffing. Upon recognizing his owner, Pluto jumps joyfully. But their celebration is short lived. Chief O’Hara bursts in, pistol drawn. Mickey, protecting the cowering Pluto, yells at the Chief, calling him a crook like Miklos. The Chief tells Mickey to be carful, or else he’ll use the gun on Pluto first. Chief bring Mickey and Pluto to his office. “Meet the gang!” Chief says showing off disguise suits for the Bank President, the Mayor, and the Dog Catcher. Chief asks if Mickey recognizes the disguises. It’s then Mickey finally understands; The Chief, is not the real Chief. It’s then the “Chief” takes off his mask, revealing his real self, Miklos.
Mickey Vs. Mickey[]
Mickey is slightly thankful that Chief O’Hara isn’t really a crook, to which Miklos responds claiming impersonating the Chief was easy. Miklos explains how he can become anyone he desires. Mickey understands that’s how he commit of his crimes, but asks who is Miklos really, to which Miklos finally introduces himself to Mickey. Miklos shows of two posters of his, one and ad from his preforming days and the second his wanted poster. Mickey claims that sooner or later, Miklos will be discovered by the law, so Miklos pulls out his pistol and explains his full plan to retire; They have a desperate fight, he kills Mickey and Pluto, he tells the police Mickey’s him, he marries Minnie and he lives out his life as and live out his life as Mickey Mouse. Mickey runs away with Pluto and Miklos chases after them firing his pistol at them. The bullets go everywhere and bounce off the toys. Mickey attempts to defend himself by shooting Miklos with toy arrows. He sends the toy soldiers after Miklos and they trample him. Mickey gets in a toy tank and releases a smoke barrage on Miklos. Miklos keeps firing til he uses his last bullet. Then, Mickey chased Miklos on the tank. Miklos try’s to run away, but Mickey throws a bowling ball at him and, strike! Miklos is down! But Miklos gets back up and runs to some playground equipment with Mickey on his tail. The structure collapses, and the police arrive!

Chief O’Hara tries to find the real Mickey in many ways; he tries to get Pluto to find his real owner but he’s stuck some toy poodles, he tries to identify Mickey by the white patch on his elbow, but they both have it, and he tries to get Minnie to pick the real one which she does, before changing her mind. Chief O’Hara decides to put them both in jail before they figure out who’s who. Chief O’Hara yet again tries many ways to find the real Mickey; he tells Mickey and Miklos about the dessert Mickey had that made everyone else sick but he gets it wrong and now there both sick, he tries to use a new machine called the “Crime-Detecto” that’s supposed to point the criminal but to points at the Chief instead, and he even tries to get Dr. Dhilly, from before, to find the real Mickey but both Mickey and Miklos run away.
They fight on the top of buildings, Miklos pulls out a blade, and the fall of the rooftops and nearly miss someone’s balcony bath before they fall on a water tower. It’s then Chief O’Hara goes outside and finally discovers the fraud, for Miklos’s black paint washed off revealing him to be a grey mouse with a black heart. The Chief try’s to cuff Miklos, but Miklos sneakily puts the cuffs on the Chief and tries to run away. Eventually they catch Miklos and go to the Chief’s office where they read Miklos’d file which says he’s wanted in almost every country of the world. But in the file lies a note saying to exercise caution when capturing Miklos, for he is known for his spectacular escapes. Trivia[]
- His design is identical to Mickey's except for his grey color and a curving bend on his upper lip.
- Miklos's first two canon appearances are shown in the comic collection book,Mickey Vs. Mickey byFloyd Gottfredson.
- He is wanted in almost everycountry onEarth.
- His appearanceMickey and the Grey Scourge is almost where to be found on the internet except for a few images.
- It’s implied that Miklos is agolddigger considering his love for stealing expensive items and plans to replace Mickey as the girlfriend of Minnie, who can afford a lot of expensive clothes.
- It’s possible that Miklos is actually arat;
- He is called rat many times throughout the comic.
- Given how theMickey Mouse and Friends andDuckTales universe often depicts more hostile species of animals (cats, dogs, wolfs, etc), and Miklos being a rat may explain why he is evil.
- According to the foreword ofMickey Vs. Mickey by Thomas Andrae, Miklos’s character was inspired by three things;
- 1. Miklos’s concept, being Mickey’s double, was inspired by a previous comic strip seriesWorld of Tomorrow in whichPeg Leg Pete createsrobot doubles of the world authority figures under his command.
- 2. Miklos’s character was written at the start of theCold War and the height of theHouse Un-American Activities Committee’s persecution and blacklisting of manyHollywood actors and scriptwriters. Because of this, Miklos was inspired bycommunistsubversives. The foreword describes how just as Miklos was able to act like and look like Mickey, subversives were able to act like and look like Americans.
- 3. Miklos was also made to be representation of what Mickey used to be in the early cartoons, albeit much more villains. In the beginning, Mickey had a clear identity; a rebelliousantiauthoritarian who often mocked authority figures, like in the 1929 cartoonThe Opry House when he did his own quick-change act like Miklos.
- There are only two other instances where Mickey had doppelgängers. The first was the pre-mentioned robot double of Mickey created by Pete in theWorld of Tomorrow comic strip series. The second was in the 1990 Mickey Mousefeaturette adaptation of theMark TwainnovelThe Prince and the Pauper. In the featurette, Mickey, the pauper, agrees with the identicalPrince of the kingdom so both can live a day in each other’s lives.
- It just so happens that, inThe Prince and the Pauper, Captain Pete had a very similar plan to Miklos inMickey’s Dangerous Double; Pete blackmails Mickey to be crowned king or else he will kill Pluto.
