Malleus Draconia (マレウス・ドラコニア) is a playable character in 2020 video gameDisney: Twisted-Wonderland. He is a junior (3rd-year) student at Night Raven College and head of Diasomnia dorm. He is based onMaleficent andPrincess Aurora from Disney'sSleeping Beauty. He is a villainous character during Book 7.

He is voiced by Kazuki Katō in Japanese and Jacob Carlson in the English dub of the anime adaptation. As a child, he is voiced by Marina Inoue.

Biography[]

At least 300 years before the start of the game, he was born into the ruling royal family of the Briar Valley. As both his parents died in an interspecies war the kingdom was fighting, he spent most of his childhood raised by Lilia Vanrouge. Due to his high and unstable power levels, he grows up lonely and so has very strong attachment to Lilia despite the latter's inexperience in child-rearing. He is currently in line to succeed the Briar Valley throne and attending Night Raven College as head of Diasomnia dorm, with Lilia as vice-head.

Book 7[]

After learning that Lilia has decided to drop out of Night Raven College and retire abroad due to advanced age and weakening magic, Malleus quickly reachesoverblot and activates his unique magicFey of Maleficence to imprison the school and the entire country (and eventually the entire world) in a gradually expanding area of effect that freezes time and forces all victims inside to sleep and gives them pleasant dreams that he specifically creates for them. In order to undo this spell, Silver with his unique magicMeet in a Dream (false reading for 同じ夢を見よう "let us have the same dream") alongside Sebek Zigvolt and technologically adept Shroud siblings manually travel into other students' dreams in order to personally wake them up and gather them to fight Malleus later, all while evading Malleus's notice.

After key members of the student body have been awakened, Idia Shroud then traps Malleus inside a video game simulation (that imitates the user interface and mechanics ofDisney: Twisted-Wonderland itself), allowing the awakened students to take turns fighting him. After a series of defeats, Malleus ends his magic and transforms into a dragon in a rage-fueled rampage. Using equipments crafted from Lilia's old weapon, Silver, Sebek and Lilia sever one of Malleus's horns, bringing him back to normal at the cost of Lilia's life. The combined power from a magic ring Silver is carrying and Malleus's severed horn brings Lilia back to life and restores his magic. Lilia is reinstated as an NRC student and Malleus, while designated as a global magical threat, is allowed to continue his studies.

Personality[]

Malleus is generally calm and aloof, but not hostile. Despite this, he has on occasion been driven to explosive anger. He appears to have a preference for solitary activities, such as observing gargoyle statues by himself; this is largely due to being known and feared worldwide for his overwhelmingly powerful magic. Being a fairy from the technologically backwards Briar Valley, he has shown unfamiliarity with and fascination with cultural differences with other countries and species, including things like the common education system. He is known for constant absence from school gatherings, believing that he is not invited to them.

Despite his apparent reservedness, he has strong familial attachments to his adoptive father Lilia; this drives his villainous actions during Book 7. He and Leona Kingscholar also openly regard one another as rivals.

Unique Magic[]

Fey of Maleficence (祝福(フェイ・オブ・マレフィセンス), Japanese for "blessing", "celebration"): Erects an area of effect, marked off by a barrier of thorned vines, inside which time is stopped and any target is forcibly put to sleep and made to have dreams that Malleus creates for them. The spell does not work on Silver, who can dream-travel, and Ortho Shroud, who cannot conventionally sleep. The spell can only be ended either by Malleus himself or when the victims realize they are dreaming. After having one horn severed, Malleus is no longer able to use this ability.

Due to his species, he is the oldest livingDisney: Twisted-Wonderland villain.
He is the only majorDisney: Twisted-Wonderland villain to reachoverblot at the beginning of their respective story arc.
He was born on January 18, making him a Capricorn. This is likely a reference to his prominent horns.
