She is a powerful sorceress who once ruled alongside her brother,Poe De Spell, under the might of Tyranny who would develop an eternal hatred and rivalry with Scrooge McDuck, bent on destroying him and everything that he holds dear, becoming one of the most ruthless and dangerous enemies that the Clan McDuck has ever faced. She is also the archenemy of both Webby Vanderquack andLena De Spell, the latter's former "aunt" and creator, andScrooge McDuck's first archenemy.
Unlike her original incarnation, Magica remained as a shadow for a while. When she obtained the dime, her body is slimmer. In addition, her feathers are green, but when rendered powerless, her feathers revert to the white color. Her eyes are yellow while her pupils are shaped as triangles. She wears a black halter dress with a bright purple amulet holding both her dress and her reversible cape and black elbow-length fingerless gloves. Her hair is shorter and carries a small portion of purple. She doesn't wear heels in comparison to her original incarnation.
Personality[]
Magica is manipulative, power-hungry, cruel, and selfish, forcingLena to be Webby's friend to gain her trust and entry into the McDuck Manor to steal Scrooge's Number One Dime in exchange for her freedom. Throughout her time as Lena's shadow, she does nothing but insult her and complain about her lack of commitment to her plans. Magica also doesn't care about Lena's safety as long as she gets the dime, like in "Jaw!$" where she scolds Lena for destroying the money shark, disregarding the fact she would have been eaten if she hadn't. Magica only sees Lena as tool for revenge and is willing to control her against her will to accomplish this in "The Other Bin of Scrooge McDuck!" When she regained her form in "The Shadow War!", she absorbed Lena back into her shadow. After Lena regained her form to save Webby, Magica seemingly kills her, claiming she is nothing, further indicating that she never thought of Lena as an actual person.
Magica is also vain and narcissistic, believing that being a powerful sorceress entitles her to do whatever she wants and cares not for the consequences inflicted on others such as using Lena or endangering the Duck family. She even delights in killing Scrooge's family as it furthers her plans of revenge. She encourages Lena to leave Beakley to be crushed in "Terror of the Terra-firmians!", seeing her as a threat to her plans, and is enthusiastic at the idea of Scrooge's nephews being eaten by the money shark in "Jaw$!".
After the Shadow War, Magica becomes desperate to regain her powers. So, she tries to emotionally push Lena into returning to her only for her friends to save her. They find Magica in the real world and discover she has grown desperate and miserable since losing her powers and any threatening traits she had before were gone, showing a massive inferiority complex. She also developed a hatred towards children after she had to get a job as a party magician at Funso's to earn a living.
Despite her villainous nature, Magica isn't seen without standards. In "The Shadow War!", while initially assuming Scrooge was faking his depression after his family deserted him, she realizes it's real and actually pitied him, showing that she respects him as a worthy opponent and wants to destroy him at his best, not at his lowest. Magica also genuinely cared for her twin brother,Poe De Spell, as they both ruled a village together in the past. She was very distraught when she accidentally turned Poe into a raven while fighting Scrooge and was willing to give up her wealth and throne to Scrooge if he could save Poe (most likely a lie). But he didn't, which is the reason for her hatred against Scrooge. Also, at the end of the series, Magica and the other villains were brainwashed by F.O.W.L. to attack the heroes. She and the others, furious by this, puts her feud with the Ducks aside that day to punishBradford Buzzard by turning him into a non-sapient buzzard and taking him as a pet. And then, they leave without a fight because they saw that they were outmatched with all of the Ducks and their allies present.
Powers and Abilities[]
Magica de Spell is a dark witch of great power who is versed in all forms of magic. A Sumerian amulet that she turns into the headpiece of a staff is the source of her power. Without it, she is merely a practitioner of stage magic. Magica has lost her powers in the season one finale, but recently got them back in season three.
Dark Magic[]
With her full powers, Magican use dark magic to fly, attack with mystic bolts, defend herself with shields, manipulate objects, teleport herself and others, cast spells, enhance physical abilities, transmogrify objects and people (but never learned to turn them back), use the lunar eclipse to free herself and imprison Scrooge in the Number One Dime, etc.
However, her primary magic is shadow manipulation. Magica turned her own shadow intoLena de Spell to be her spy the moment she was imprisoned in the Number One Dime. While trapped, she uses Lena's own shadow to speak to her, see and hear (but cannot touch anything), pass through walls, even take control of her body against her will. At full power, Magica can take all the shadows from the people of Duckburg to raise an army of shadow puppets to do her bidding. She can merge them into larger forms, even combine the majority of them into a massive, dark vortex she can use to knock around aircraft and smash buildings.
Equipment[]
Magica has also used other tools and magical objects, like the Hunter's Stone, which created a money shark from the coins of Scrooge's Money Bin, which is a Vesuvian Diamond Dagger that can cut through anything, deadly potions, a telepathic helmet that lets her enter Lena's dreams, and a ghost-banishing amulet to blast Duckworth one time.

Trivia[]
In this incarnation, Magica speaks with a British accent instead of an Italian accent. However, the Italian dub gives her a Neapolitan accent reminiscent of her original incarnation's.
Magica was added to the opening credits, starting in Season 2, taking Big Time Beagle's place.
Since Magica is considered to be Lena's aunt, it's possible that brother, Poe, is actually Lena's father. The reason why is because Magica used some of Poe's magic to create Lena.
Magica is the evil counterpart of Lena, representing what she would've become if she hadn't accepted Webby and Violet as her friends.
Additionally, Magica could be seen as a dark parallel of Donald Duck. Both of them blamed Scrooge for the loss of their siblings (Poe and Della). However, Donald was able to move on with his life, while Magica was consumed by hate and loss. If Donald hadn't reconciled with Scrooge, he would've ended up like Magica.
