~ Leroy when fighting Stitch.
Experiment 629, or simply629, also known asLeroy, is the titular secondary antagonist of the 2006 direct to-video animated filmLeroy & Stitch, the fourth and final installment of theLilo & Stitch animated films.
He is the newest enforcer ofJacques von Hämsterviel, reluctantly created by a coercedJumba Jookiba, who seeks to capture and destroy all the previous experiments, especiallyStitch, and helps Hämsterviel conquer and rule the galaxy. He is also the final experiment of Jumba and Stitch's evil twin brother, evil counterpart and personal arch-rival.
Due to fundamentally being Stitch with none of the good traits he adopted upon befriending Lilo, Leroy is a merciless, cruel, battle-hungry and sadistic critter who relishes dominating and terrorizing his opponents or innocent bystanders for the hell of it. He also enjoys going all out in destructive rampages if allowed to and is more than willing to aid in mass murder or even genocide to ensure his master's reign. Unlike evenExperiment 627 he doesn't have an ounce of honor in him, rendering him the evillest of Jumba's experiments, an inherent trait deliberately engineered on him on Hämsterviel's orders. He is impossible to rehabilitate and thus his "one true place" is in prison.
Despite his destructiveness and pure evil personality, he has a few other personality aspects, such as a similarly mischievous and troublemaking edge like Stitch, picks his nose and is a messy eater. He appears to be entirely loyal to Hämsterviel, obeying him without hesitation and never tries to usurp or rebel against him (though he is perfectly willing to laugh at and mock him for his failures), likely as a result of programming. He and his clones also appear to be fond of "Jailhouse Rock" and are content with dancing to the music in their prison cells after their defeat rather than try and escape or sulk about their ultimate defeat.
Biography[]
After Jumba, Pleakley, Stitch and Lilo parted ways to chase after their dreams, the mad scientist went back on working on experiments (albeit no longer for Hämsterviel) but was forced to partner with Hämsterviel again under threat fromCaptain Gantu, utilizing an unfinished experiment as a template. Jumba was ordered to make the experiment similar to Stitch but stronger and evil enough to never be able to be reformed (similarly to 627), after the experiment was finished, Hämsterviel named him "Leroy" and the latter emerged ready to fulfill his master's plans, Stitch came in to arrest Hämsterviel and Gantu (having tracked them down) but was forced to fight his newest "cousin" who emerged victorious and trapped Stitch, taking his captain uniform in the process and was then alsocloned several times over, creating an army for Hämsterviel and Gantu.
After defeating Stitch, Leroy stole his identity and used it to hijack Stitch's ship and use it to go to Planet Turo and overthrow the Galactic Federation, installing Hämsterviel as the new Chairman, during the travel he got a call from Lilo through the telecommunication pad and tried to fool her to get information out of her about Earth but upon being discovered was ordered to hang up the call and just help the takeover after which he was sent to Earth to capture the 624 experiments.
After the original Leroy successfully rounded up all the Experiments on Earth and imprisoned them inside a stadium so Hämsterviel could destroy them all at once, Hämsterviel and the rest of the Leroy army arrived on Earth to witness the end of the other experiments but was briefly thwarted when Stitch destroyed the laser and caused it to crush both him and Hämsterviel, leading to the latter unleashing the entirety of the Leroy army to finish the job. With that, the original Leroy and his clones went on to fight the other experiments once Stitch rallied his cousins (and a recently redeemed 625/Reuben) to fight back; while his clones took on the other experiments, Leroy had a rematch with Stitch that ended in a humiliating defeat, though he recovered and his clones proceeded to gain the upper hand on the experiments through their numbers, coming close to victory until Jumba remembered their weakness failsafe and helped Lilo and Stitch organize all their friends (including the recently reformed Gantu) to perform "Aloha Oe" and successfully glitch and shut down the entire Leroy army, with the original being the last to shut down.
Leroy was last seen incarcerated in the Galactic Federation prison, dancing to Elvis' Presley's "Jailhouse Rock" alongside his clones, while an angry Hämsterviel just grumpily tapped his foot along to the music.
It's unknown if he is still in prison after Hämsterviel somehow managed to escape by the time of the non-canonicalStitch! anime.
Presumably, he's still in jail with his clones and boss in the timeline of the spin-off seriesStitch and Ai where Hämsterviel is shown to remain behind bars.
Appearance[]
Leroy is an exact duplicate of Stitch, featuring rough red fur, a mahogany nose, black claws, toes, and tips of his antennae, along with a light tan or pinkish-orange stomach extending from his chin around his eyes. He has crimson markings on the back of his head and on his back, frilly, jagged ears with light purple insides, yellow teeth, a fluffy tail, and a slightly deeper voice. Additionally, he has two extra retractable arms, two bent retractable antennae on his head, three bent retractable spines tipped with white and dark mahogany on his back, and retractable claws on both his front and back paws. When his mouth is closed, his canine fangs protrude.
When impersonating Stitch, Leroy wears the same black spacesuit that Stitch donned when he was the captain of the B.R.B. 9000. Leroy's suit consists of a black shirt featuring thick red brims on the shoulders, wrist-length sleeves with red cuffs, and matching vertical linings on both sides of the shirt and trousers. He also wears a gray belt with a light gray "V" on the front, as well as a small gray mark resembling a teardrop with a black dot on the upper left chest. After Leroy and his clones were defeated, the suit was removed.

Trivia[]
Discounting the Chinese experiments seen inStitch & Ai, Leroy is the last experiment made by Jumba in the canon Disney series.
Unlike other experiments in the franchise, Jumba was forced to create him, and it's also the only one who doesn't have any real flaws or defects in his code (such as the "cousins'" uncontrollable behavior before their reformations or 627's laughter weakness); with his one weakness to "Aloha Oe" music being deliberately engineered by Jumba as a fail-safe to bring him down.
His designation asExperiment 629 was fan-made at first, with it only being fully confirmed in a bonus chapter for the 2020 spin-off mangaStitch and the Samurai via the Japanese version of the puzzle gameLINE: Disney Tsum Tsum. It was later confirmed for English-speaking audiences via an officially licensed sticker book released in 2021.
Whenever Hämsterviel introduced Leroy, everyone for whatever the reason laughed at the name, except Lilo who thought it was a fine and fitting name, even though she was expecting Hamsterviel to introduce Leroy's experiment number first before suggesting a nickname.
Leroy serves as a dark reflection and evil counterpart of Stitch. Both were designed to be incredibly destructive, but unlike Stitch, who was fundamentally changed by Lilo's love and became a force for good, Leroy remains a completely loyal and irredeemable "monster" for Hämsterviel, lacking the capacity for reform (without a specific fail-safe). While Stitch's destructive nature manifests in mischievous ways that can be channeled, Leroy is described as brutal, sadistic, and cruel, enjoying violence and showing no mercy to his opponents. Stitch found his "one true place" with Lilo's family and chose to help people whereas Leroy is completely loyal to Hämsterviel and works solely for his evil purpose of galactic domination. If Stitch hadn't met Lilo and her 'ohana and been introduced to the meaning of family, he would've ended up like Leroy.
