Is this not simpler? Is this not your natural state? It's the unspoken truth of humanity, that you crave subjugation. The bright lure of freedom diminishes your life's joy in a mad scramble for power, for identity. You were made to be ruled. In the end, you willalways kneel.

Tyrants are rulers who are cruel and oppressive. Their territory can range from a city, to a particular region/country, to the entire world, to an entire galaxy or galaxies, to even the entire universe or cosmos. They often seek complete domination of whatever territories lie out of their influence but not always, for some are content to rule small to mid-sized territories and do not seek expansion on larger scales; this differs them fromimperialists andtotalitarians, who seek to reshape not only their own society but often the world itself (in some cases they even seek to reshape the universe itself).

Examples includeMegatron in theTransformers franchise,Sauron in theMiddle-earth franchise,Frieza in theDragon Ball franchise,Emperor Palpatine in theStar Wars franchise,Skar King inGodzilla X Kong: The New Empire,Shao Kahn in theMortal Kombat franchise,Joffrey Baratheon inA Song of Ice and Fire (also known asGame of Thrones),Malgosha inA Minecraft Movie, andSentinel Prime inTransformers One.

They are the evil counterparts ofheroic conquerors, benefactors andharmonizers.

NOTE: Not to be confused with ahegemonic villain, who desire to conquer and rule, but have failed or yet to be able to fulfill their said goal. However, there may be room for overlap with these two categories.
