Status Dependent on Version
| “ | our reports showed a massive anomaly in the timespace continuum. timelines jumping left and right, stopping and starting... until suddenly, everything ends. heh heh heh… that's your fault, isn't it? you can't understand how this feels, knowing that one day, without any warning... it's all going to be reset. | „ |

Villains whose stories have had multiple versions/adaptations and whose fates have differed in some of the different versions. For instance,Audrey II survives and wins in the original play and director's cut versions ofLittle Shop of Horrors but is killed in the changed theatrical movie ending,AM who also won and survived in the original version ofI Have No Mouth and I Must Scream but can be defeated and destroyed for good in the video game adaptation depending on the player's choices, and theJoker died inBatman (1989),Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker,The Dark Knight Returns, andBatman: Arkham City, but lives in the comics and most other adaptations. "Version" can also refer tolegacy villains, who have obviously had more than one identity and therefore a different fate depending on which interpretation it is; this is especially prominent in cases where a villain dies and another character takes up their identity, like with different versions ofthe Mask.
- NOTE: For villains whose source story had different adaptations, this category shall only qualify if their status deviated from their source materials greatly in the adaptation's continuity. If the villains' status is the same in both/all versions, or if the adaptation is stillONGOING and the villains' final fate in the adaptation is still on hold, it shouldn't count until/unless the adaptation's continuity stated otherwise.
