Beth Hoefler, also known asBeth the Baby-Killer, is a minor antagonist in seasons six and seven ofOrange is the New Black.
She is an outcasted inmate in Litchfield Penitentiary's maximum security prison (MAX), who was in prison for killing her children.
She was portrayed by Finnerty Steeves.
Personality[]
Beth has psychopathic tendencies, showing clear ease in lying or obfuscating the truth around her crimes. She also struggles to read people's intentions after almost drowningMaria Ruiz on purpose. She initially appears remorseful over her crimes but it becomes evident her psychopathic tendencies still manifest.

Beth has long black hair. She is tall and of slim build.
Biography[]
Background[]
Beth had at least three children, including her eldest daughter, Michaela. At some point she murdered all three of her children. It is heavily implied two of these were done in a washing machine during a postpartum episode. In her first week at Litchfield, she was stabbed in the rib.
Orange is the New Black[]
Beth is seen in the beginning of season six as a bunkmate forPiper Chapman whilst the rioters are processed for GenPop. Beth comes across as friendly and calm, and starts to make conversation with Piper. Beth tells stories to Piper about her life and her children, which comforts Piper. Beth cautions Piper to be strong in MAX and to stand up for herself, comparing herself to Piper that she was not when she arrived.
Beth soothes Piper further and starts to do Beth's hair.Greg Hellman comes to their cell and tells them to stop touching one another, and tells Piper that Beth is in prison after killing her children, which disturbs Piper. Beth is saddened at first but appears unfazed moments later. Beth later rejoinsMadison Murphy's crew and defecates on D-Block's uniform. Beth later joins Piper's kickball team.
Beth attends a prayer group withMaria Ruiz, and reveals that she tried to drown Maria. Beth fails to understand why Maria is frustrated at her.

Trivia[]
- When Nicky Nichols is sent to Maximum Security, she reveals that she met an inmate who drowned her children in a washing machine. Though unconfirmed, this could well be Beth.
