Alberto Falcone is a minor antagonist in the 2024 crime drama television miniseriesThe Penguin.

He is the eldest son ofCarmine Falcone and heir to the Falcone Crime Family who wanted to use his newly gained power to take control of Gotham's drug trade with his sister,Sofia Falcone, after she discovered a powerful psychoactive drug named the Bliss in her time in Arkham State Hospital. However, before he received the shipment, he was gunned down byThe Penguin, with his death inadvertently sparking a gang war.

He was portrayed byMichael Zegen, who also playedRandall Culver inThe Walking Dead.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Alberto was born to Isabella Gigante and the ruthless mob bossCarmine Falcone.

During a game of hide and seek with his sister,Sofia, their father had killed Isabella and framed it as a suicide. While seeking Alberto, Sofia would find her body hanging from her parents' room, and innocently tried to wake her up to no avail. From that moment onwards, the siblings were raised by Falcone only.

Ten years before the events ofThe Batman andThe Penguin, a series of murders associated with the victim dying of strangulation were connected to the Falcones' Iceberg Lounge. Sofia, being the chairwoman of the Isabella Falcone Foundation at the time, would look into it and get into contact with a reporter, Summer Gleeson, who pointed out that the murders were strangely similar to her mother's death. After meeting up with her, her driverOswald Cobb would snitch on her with her father. The next day, Carmine fabricated a false story to incriminate her daughter before she came closer to the truth, as well as disowning her and setting Alberto to be the next heir to the Falcone Crime Family.

Being framed with the Hangman murders, Sofia was set to trial. During this time, Alberto would try his very best to assist her in the legal battle. However, that would come to change when she was instead moved to Arkham State Hospital for a "psychic evaluation" for six months.

After the six months passed, Alberto visited her again, telling her that she didn't pass the supposed evaluation, and that she would stay in Arkham for ten years at the very least. During this decade, Alberto's frequent visits would be the only thing that would keep Sofia sane, and eventually the two would begin a plot to distribute a drug Sofia had discovered in her time in Arkham, the Bliss.

The Penguin[]

In the aftermath ofThe Batman, Carmine Falcone is murdered by the serial killer known asthe Riddler, and Alberto is left to replace his father as head of the Falcone crime family, despite his known drug addiction. Later on, he heads to the Iceberg Lounge, a club owned by his father and run by Oswald, who in the years since Sofia's arrest, had risen to became Carmine's right-hand man. Alberto, while there, encounters Oswald robbing some jewels and blackmail material from the Iceberg Lounge, and holds him at gunpoint. Oswald is able to calm Alberto down, and the two have a discussion where Alberto reveals the existence of Bliss to Oswald.

When Alberto later asked if he could be like his father, Oswald replied that he could, but that there are kinds of powers. After Oswald confessed his wish to be remembered like the gangster he looked up to, Rex Calabrese, Alberto ridiculed and insulted him for his ostensibly foolish dream, to which Oswald, in an impulsive rage, shot and killed him much to his horror. When Oswald has calmed down, he curses himself for being so impetuous.
