- My first memory of the Vietnam War came about in July 1965 whilst standing at the edge of the runway at Whenuapai airbase waving GOODBYE to my Dad and other members of the 161 Battery of the Royal New Zealand Artillery.
- Tokohau Rima Samuels (1931–1975), known as Sam, was born to Rima and Evelyn Samuels on the 19th November 1931 at Turua, near Thames, New Zealand. He was of Tainui and Whakatohea decent plus European.

This was most likely taken during a visit by Mr Alan McCready on 5 March 1972, five days after the team arrived in Dong Ba Thin on 1 March 1972.
This photograph was taken on 19 December 1972 at Cam Rahn Bay. The Crew L-R are F/O Bruce Watson (Pilot) followed by two US Army UH-1H Crewmen, Sqd/Ldr John Meredith (Nav) and Sgt Larry Price HCM and engineer. The Aircraft was involved in the withdrawal of 2nd New Zealand Army Training Team Vietnam (2. NZATTV) that was based at Dong Ba Thin. Recognition for Larry Price being in Vietnam was secured 49 years later by Scotty Wingfield.
