Information we collect from you and how it is used

Log files
Like most other websites, VGMdb.net automatically records page requests in server logs. Information collected includes Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type and date/time stamp. These log files are analyzed daily to generate visitor statistics, after which they are automatically deleted.
Cookies
VGMdb.net makes use ofcookies to store user preferences and customize page content. You can configure your browser client to refuse cookies, or warn you each time a cookie is sent. Cookies are not required to browse this site; however, you must have cookies enabled to submit database information or make use of the message posting features on our vBulletin forum.
User accounts
To enhance the public accountability of our data resources, individuals who wish to submit and edit database information will need to register a user account with a valid email address through our vBulletin forum software. Authorship of database entries is then attributed to their chosen username. Email addresses are kept strictly confidential and will only be used to distribute periodic site announcements or newsletters (with opt-out information), forum thread subscriptions, or to facilitate lost password retrieval. Users can modify their account information, except their username, from the vBulletin User Control Panel. For purposes of data integrity we generally do not remove user accounts; however, requests for username changes will be entertained on a case by case basis.
Visitor analytics
For each visitor to our database pages (such as album entries, artist profiles and label discographies), we record the time of visit, IP address, and referring URL address (if applicable). This information is used for statistical purposes such as popularity rankings and linkbacks. We also make use of Google Analytics to track in-depth visitor statistics such as referring pages, user navigation through the site, browser statistics, search terms, and demographic information. Sharing of information

We will not disclose personally identifiable information about individual users such as names and email addresses with any third parties, except when legally required to do so, at the request of governmental authorities conducting an investigation, to verify or enforce compliance with the policies governing our website and applicable laws or to protect against misuse or unauthorized use of our website.

External services

VGMdb.net is not responsible for the content and operation of any third-party services that we utilize, such as RSS feed subscriptions and the site feedback widget. You are advised to read the privacy policies of external sites before disclosing any personal information.

Advertising

VGMdb.net is a strictly non-profit site, and as such, we do not display any third-party advertising banners on our pages. However, VGMdb is affiliated with a small number of third party companies in order to provide additional information about and access to products that relate to our content. Any sales provided to these companies through our affiliate network provide a monetary return that will be used to help maintain VGMdb.

Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) Compliance

VGMdb.net is directed at individuals who are at least 13 years of age. In compliance with the requirements of COPPA, we do not collect any information from anyone under 13 years old.
