THE BASICS

  • Has tremendous upside with her size, athleticism and versatility
  • She has the ability to play at both the guard and forward positions, and her style of play fits well with VCU’s overall approach
  • As a junior, Parks had a breakout season, averaging an Atlantic 10 best 18.7 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 2.7 steals per game en route to a second team all-conference citation.
  • Originally from Waldorf, Md., Parks has also lived in Turkey (1994-96) and Guam (1997-99)
  • She was a two-time Player of the Year at North Point High School

2012-13 SEASON (JUNIOR)

  • Led the Atlantic 10 in scoring (18.7 ppg), finished second in steals (2.7 spg) and ranked among the league’s top 10 in both rebounding (7.9 rpg) and field goal percentage (.470) en route to a second team all-conference citation.
  • Scored 20 or more points 12 times, including four straight and five of her last six games
  • Posted nine double-doubles (14 pts, 10 reb at Old Dominion; 24 pts, 10 reb vs. UMKC; 22 pts, 12 reb at Maine; 14 pts, 10 reb vs. East Carolina; 24 pts, 11 reb vs. Maine; 15 pts, 10 reb at Saint Louis; 17 pts, 13 reb vs. Dayton; 29 pts, 20 reb at UR; 21 pts, 11 reb vs. Xavier)
  • Scored a career-high 34 points at Manhattan, the most since Courtney Hurt’s school-record 40 at UMKC on Nov. 19, 2011... Shot 11-for-15 from the field and 12-for-16 from the free throw line.
  • Posted first-ever 20-20 game with 29 points and a career-high 20 rebounds at Richmond... Also went a career-best 13-of-17 at the FT line
  • Recorded a career-high eight steals vs. Rhode Island
  • Set career-highs with seven steals and five assists to go along with 21 points and 11 rebounds vs. Xavier
  • Added 25 points, six rebounds and four steals at Charlotte
  • Grabbed a then career-high 13 rebounds to go along with 17 points vs. #17/15 Dayton
  • Scored 24 points, added 10 rebounds and went a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line in a win over UMKC
  • Led all scorers with 24 points (10-of-16 shooting) and 11 rebounds against Maine on New Year’s Day... Also chipped in two assists and four steals, and went 4-of-4 from FT line
  • Collected a game-high 23 points vs. George Washington
  • Added a team-best 21 points and eight boards at Butler
  • Added 20 points, seven rebounds and went 6-of-6 at FT line in win over NJIT
  • Grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds and a then career-best five steals at Maine
  • Finished with 19 points, six rebounds and a then career-high six steals at Coppin State

2011-12 SEASON (SOPHOMORE)

  • Was bothered throughout the season by a nagging foot injury suffered in early December
  • Appeared in 33 games with 15 starts
  • Averaged 6.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, 0.9 assists and 0.8 steals per game
  • Scored in double figures in 11 games after just four, eight-point performances as a freshman
  • Established career highs with 18 points (season-best 7 of 11 shooting) and nine rebounds in a win at UMKC (11/19)
  • Averaged 11.0 ppg and 4.0 rpg in a pair of games in the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament
  • Chipped in eight points and six rebounds off the bench at St. Joe’s in the second round of the WNIT
  • Added 15 points and six boards in just 18 minutes off the bench at Winthrop (11/27)
  • Finished with 10 points against Old Dominion (1/11), and followed with 10 points, six rebounds, four assists and two blocks at William & Mary (1/15)
  • Contributed 10 points on 5 of 6 shooting off the bench vs. JMU (2/12)
  • Tallied five points, eight rebounds and four assists against UNCW (1/8)
  • Added seven points and five boards vs. W&M (2/16)
  • Dished out a career-high four assists against Richmond (12/1) and added four steals at Liberty (11/15)
  • Contributed nine points, including a career-best five free throws against Morgan State (12/28)
  • Has recorded a career-best three blocks twice this year: at UMKC (11/19) and at Winthrop (11/27)

2010-11 SEASON (FRESHMAN)       

  • Saw action in all but one game as a freshman, averaging 12.8 minutes per outing (most among six players with no starts)
  • Contributed 3.0 ppg, 2.7 rpg, while tallying 15 assists, 13 steals and seven blocks.
  • Established career-highs in minutes (21), points (eight on a perfect 4-of-4 shooting) and rebounds (7) against George Mason (1/9/11)
  • Added eight points (4-of-5 shooting), a pair of assists, a block and a steal at UNC Wilmington (2/3/11)
  • Collected five points and a career-high tying seven rebounds in a win against Northeastern (1/16/11)
  • Tallied four points, five rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block in 16 minutes at Radford (12/23/10)
  • Contributed five points with three rebounds in just eight minutes at William & Mary (1/2/11)
  • Collected four points and three rebounds in 12 minutes at Coppin State (12/8/10) before adding four points in 16 minutes against Liberty (12/21/10)
  • Played a career-high 26 minutes and added eight points in VCU’s regular season finale at Georgia State (3/2/11)
  • Closed the regular season with back-to-back eight-point performances
  • Scored seven points and went a perfect 3-for-3 at the free throw line to help the Rams to a season sweep of Old Dominion for the first time since the 1972-73 season

HIGH SCHOOL     

  • Played four seasons at North Point High School
  • Was named Player of the Year in both her junior and senior seasons
  • Played for the Southern Maryland Lady Clippers AAU program
