We've released an updated edition ofThe Sword in The Pool with improved layout and new artwork. Several passages have been clarified for better mechanical clarity. This happened thanks to Pietro's initiative and dedication.
A Central Pool of shared d6s funds every conflict. When you act, the Bard adds difficulty dice from the pool—moderate risks cost 3 dice, critical ones cost 1. You bet your own dice and roll. Win, and you narrate exactly how things go.
As the pool depletes, tension rises. When it hits zero, the system shifts entirely. The Climax strips away the Bard's difficulty dice. Now you face the kingdom's collapse with only Traits and whatever dice remain. Death becomes permanent. Choices become absolute.
Between conflicts, Recovery Scenes let your Knight find brief peace—if you can win the roll for it. Your Traits can evolve during these moments, reflecting what your character has learned.
It's a game where the mechanics ARE the story: a kingdom's fading power literally drains from the shared pool.
thanks!
