Fox News said it would launch its newFox Nation subscription-based video outlet on Nov. 27, and charge $5.99 a month for the service, or $64.99 per year.
The pricing and debut date are the latest pieces of information to be surface about the new service, a sort of Netlifx for conservatives that will feature short-form programming as well as documentary offerings and archival Fox News content and is aimed at Fox News “superfans” who want even more than they get from the heavily watchedFox News Channel. Fox News mainstays like Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson, and Laura Ingraham will appear along with rising personalities like Tomi Lahren and Britt McHenry.

“We are incredibly excited to bring our viewers exclusive access, content and experiences from our Fox News stars at an attainable price,” said John Finley, senior vice president of development and production for Fox News, in a statement.

Fox News will vie with many entrants in the broadband space. NBC News this week announced the launch of Signal, an over-the-top ad-supported service aimed at older millenials and younger Generation Xers. CBS News operates video-streaming hub CBSN. ABC News seeks to give streamers the most important live news at any moment with ABC News Live.. And then there’s Cheddar, Vice and others.
All of them are chasing viewers who have traded newspaper headlines for smartphone alerts and the evening news for on-demand video clips. The share of Americans who often get news on a mobile device – 58% – has nearly tripled since 2013, according to a report issued in July by Pew Research. In that year, only 21% of U.S. citizens did. That sharp increase has been fueled by an embrace of the technology by older Americans and lower-income families, according to the study, a sign that early adopters aren’t the only ones who have moved to a mobile-centric life.
Fox News said it would open a “pre-sale process” on Sunday, October 28, offering four limited edition packages to early subscribers of the new service. Fox said it would donate $5 to the charity Folds of Honor, which provides educational scholarships to the children and spouses of fallen and disabled service members, for every consumer who signs up for Fox Nation on Veterans Day, November 11.
To promote the new offering, Fox News will air a one-hour special, “Fox Nation First Look” on October 28 that will highlight the new programs available on the streaming outlet. The show will be hosted by Jesse Watters, Lahren (pictured, above), Pete Hegseth, McHenry and Tyrus.
