‘Harry Potter’ Actor Simon McBurney Joins ‘Conjuring 2’ (EXCLUSIVE)

“Harry Potter” actorSimon McBurney has joined “The Conjuring” sequel.

He joins Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson, who will reprise their roles of Lorraine and Ed Warren. Francis O’Connor also recently boarded the film.

James Wan is returning to direct with Peter Safran and Rob Cowan coming back to produce. The screenplay was written by Chad Hayes, Carey Hayes and Wan, with revisions by David Leslie Johnson.

New Line’s film revolve around the Warrens’ investigation into the daughter of O’Connor’s character, who is experiencing a haunting of some sorts.

Production begins later this month in Los Angeles. Richard Brener, Walter Hamada and Dave Neustadter will oversee the project for New Line.

The original pic was a hit both critically and fiscally, grossing more than $318 million worldwide.

McBurney has had a busy year appearing in a handful of films that include “The Theory of Everything,” “Magic in the Moonlight” and most recently, “Mission: Impossible-Rogue Nation.” He also appeared in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1” (the voice of Kreacher) and “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.” His one-man show, “The Encounter,” premiered to rave reviews at the Edinburgh International Festival.

He is repped by UTA, Circle of Confusion and Troika in the U.K.
