Riva tapped as production designer

Oscar Watch

J. Michael Riva has been named production designer of the 79thAcademy Awards and Pamela Oas Williams has been tapped pre-show producer.

Kudocast will be the second Oscar outing for both.

Riva’s credits include “A Few Good Men,” “The Pursuit of Happyness” and “The Color Purple.” Latter snagged him an Oscar nom.

Williams, a senior veep of film and television at Laura Ziskin Prods., oversees the company’s development slate, including the upcoming “Me & My Monster” for Columbia Pictures.

In other Oscar news, 307 feature films are eligible for this year’s best picture nod, down slightly from last year’s 311.

Nominations for the Academy Awards will be unveiled Jan. 23 in the Samuel Goldwyn Theater and nods will be doled out Feb. 25 in a live kudocast from the Kodak Theater airing on ABC.
