Prufrock’s development is headed by its president, Nina R. Sadowsky, and the TV projects will be shepherded by Polygram’s new senior VP of TV movies, Karen Danaher-Dorr.
The deal was put together by Polygram TV president Bob Sanitsky, who joined the company just under a year ago and who recently made a similar pact with Francis Ford Coppola’s Zoetrope Studios.
Sanitsky has focused mainly on first-run syndication, including the launch of “Motown Live” and “The Crow,” but the deal with Ryan’s shingle signals that the company is also serious about getting into the network and cable longform business.
“We feel that this partnership will yield a tremendous selection of high-quality, innovative and creative programming for Polygram’s broadcast clients,” Sanitsky said.
Ryan, best known for such films as ‘Sleepless in Seattle,” “Courage Under Fire” and “When Harry Met Sally … ” stars in the upcoming “City of Angels” and “You Have Mail.”
