The Lord executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed. (Psalm 103:6, KJV)
SafeChurch UPCI is an initiative of the United Pentecostal Church International that has been under development since September 2021. It is designed to provide training and resources to prevent abuse in church, and to minister to victims of abuse. These resources are intended to support churches in developing appropriate policies and procedures that will protect, guide, and create a culture of safety.
One aspect of SafeChurch UPCI is to offer video training for elected and appointed officials, ministers and lay leaders. These videos are accessible through Ministry Central, with new videos uploaded every couple of months.
SafeChurch UPCI also provides resources to help the local church establish policies that ensure a culture of safety. This includes articles, recommended books, sample policies and forms, and many other files that can be adapted for use in local churches. These resources are available to credentialed ministers at upciministers.com.
Not sure where to go from here?
The UPCI stands for biblical morality and opposes any immoral or illegal actions such as child abuse, spousal abuse, sexual harassment, sexual immorality, and fraud. We take all allegations of wrongdoing very seriously.
The UPCI has limited ability to deal with situations involving criminal conduct, and thus in such cases you should contact the appropriate legal authorities.
In the UPCI, each local church is self-governing under the leadership of the pastor and church board. If you have a complaint against a member of a local UPCI church, contact the pastor and the chair of the church board. You can find contact information for all of our local congregations by using our online church locator. If you wish to file a complaint against a credentialed UPCI minister, you should contact the district superintendent where that minister resides. You can find a complete list of district contact information using ourdistrict website directory.
The following resources were not produced by the UPCI, but are helpful in providing support to survivors of sexual abuse.
