Post-truth is examined as a cultural phenomenon and a dispositif, empha-sizing the need to diagno... morePost-truth is examined as a cultural phenomenon and a dispositif, empha-sizing the need to diagnose its multilateral presence, particularly within the realm of new media and technology. The historical and contemporary seman-tic these concepts’ context and domains of application are examined, taking into account the primary clue in the cultural history of the post-truth phe-nomenon, namely its longstanding presence in the “old history” of civilization characterized by political structures, techno-science, and the influential power of myth orchestrated by specialists in persuasion techniques, while acknowl-edging the fact that new media appear merely as neoteric in this regard. Within this framework, the expansive classification of post-truth media poli-tics is delineated, characterized by emerging disinformation technologies and the erosion of trust in scientific discourse. The Kantian inquiries posed at the conclusion – regarding what can be known, what ought to be done, and what should be anticipated – are already integrated within the response to confront the “post-truth regime”. This response is encapsulated in the equation: the state of knowledge of contemporary humanity equals new media and new technologies, which, notwithstanding their role in engendering the issue, also offer a pathway to its resolution.

The paper focuses on the issue of crisis, currently considered in the context of collapsology dis... moreThe paper focuses on the issue of crisis, currently considered in the context of collapsology discourse and scientific research in the system dynamics approach. It also reminds us of the conceptual category of crisis (which appears in historical research  already in the mid-19th century). Starting from these references, the metaphorical dimension of the contemporary crisis discourse is discussed (mainly the concept
of “Seneca cliff”), considering crisis as a “traveling concept” within transdisciplinary  research model and metascience. Discursive threads of dealing with the crisis situation are  also considered in relation to metaphors of “antifragility” and “Seneca strategy.”

The paper is an attempt at metasearch reflection on the current discursive positioning of discipl... moreThe paper is an attempt at metasearch reflection on the current discursive positioning of disciplinary history in relation to methodological issues focused on its scientific status in confrontation with historical Pyrrhonism. This attempt is developed in the following threads: tropes of the crisis discourse and tropes of the modernisation discourse-towards (the concept of) research and learning history from the perspective of consilience and the methodological expansionism of the contemporary humanities. The question arises as to whether disciplinary history has a distinguished scientific status, and therefore an important cognitive and axiological function among other areas of historical research, or whether it is rather an instrument of power that manages symbolic violence. Current revisionist discourses in the areas of anthropology, sociology, cultural studies and memory studies follow this path, and methodologists are concerned with the question of their consequences for the discipline of history. One of them is that contemporary Pyrrhonism focuses on questioning the cognitive and axiological value of European (Western) history in the face of the "history-resistant pasts" discourses within the framework of the postcolonial criticism and the indigenous turn. Hence the contextual reference to the narrative of historical Pyrrhonism from the 1970s, including the retreat from national-centric historiography (in the model of neo-historicism), the entry of other disciplines into the field of historical research, and the displacement of disciplinary history from its centre. Currently, this should be considered in relation to the postulate of the sovereignty of the discipline of history, and, on the other hand, the phenomenon of post-disciplinary transgression in humanities towards a multi-, inter-and transdisciplinary model in new orientations and research programs. In connection with this, the ultimate goal of the considerations here is to defend the conciliatory perspective in multidisciplinary historical research and the concept of its multilateral presence.

Epistemologiczne aspekty dyskursu o uniwersytecie Epistemological Aspects of the Discourse on Uni... moreEpistemologiczne aspekty dyskursu o uniwersytecie Epistemological Aspects of the Discourse on University The subject of the article oscillates around selected topics of science and technology studies in relation to the university space of institutionalization of science. The present proposition to extend metascience so that it comprises studies on the university and the anthropocene discourse is combined with an attempt to present these studies in the perspective of deep humanities, through consilience and the outline of the socio-cultural history of the university. Hence, I present here the view of social epistemology in the science in context discourse (in the style of Alvin Goldman rather than Thomas Kuhn), understood as a science about the social dimensions of knowledge, with an emphasis on epistemic processes and practices that provide space for the main factors infl uencing our beliefs, especially acts of communication and institutional structures. In this respect, this text can also be treated as a gloss to the contemporary dispute about the university and a reminder that this dispute should also be a reference point for the theory of social knowledge, taking into account the different contexts of interactions and their institutional complexity in which scientifi c facts (and most cognitive acts) are made.

Considering discursive situations, suppositions, suggestions and interpellations on the enlightenment postulate with regard to public history (including the issues: magistra vitae, emancipatory project, affi rmative history, emotive revolution, critical discourse in the public space, modus art based research) I deal with the issues: what is actually the content of public history: history or memory? Does the enlightenment postulate with regard to public history turn memory into history? Are we dealing with some project concocted by the intelligentsia and scientifi c elite? What are the current trends in the implementation of critical discourse in public history? Polityzacja/mitologizacja historii, czyli w czym neuronauka (i metodologia) może pomóc badaczowi historii najnowszej? 1 Pomysł na taką formę przekazu powstał w nawiązaniu do niedawnego spotkania w ramach Forum Badaczy Dziejów Najnowszych, zorganizowanego przez Polskie Towarzystwo Historyczne (Warszawa, 10 grudnia 2016 roku). Jego obrady pozostawiły wiele diagnoz, które postanowiliśmy w kilku wątkach uwydatnić i dopełnić. and analytical philosophy. Th e teachers of the Department of Methodology of History conduct rese... moreand analytical philosophy. Th e teachers of the Department of Methodology of History conduct research in the following fi elds: methodology of history, history of historiography, neuroscience in the context of humanistic research, visual history, public history, digital humanities, cognitive science, and contemporary theories of literature. Th ey conduct classes with students in methodology of history, history of historiography, history of philosophy, production of historical fi lms, in designing historical games, knowledge of museums, and introduction to media studies. Th e Department's faculty are co-originators and co-authors of programs taught at two specializations in historical studies: Management of Cultural Heritage and Commercialization of Historical Knowledge, and Applied History. Both specializations train and prepare students to practice history in the fi eld of public history. Th e teachers of the UMCS Department of Methodology of History together with its doctoral and graduate students eff ectively collaborate with many methodological and historiographical centers in Poland and abroad. Th ey successfully develop and bring into eff ect Professor Jerzy Topolski's idea of the need to carry out theoretical refl ection on academic historiography (research practice of historians), broadening it with considerations on public history.

Considering discursive situations, suppositions, suggestions and interpellations on the enlightenment postulate with regard to public history (including the issues: magistra vitae, emancipatory project, affi rmative history, emotive revolution, critical discourse in the public space, modus art based research) I deal with the issues: what is actually the content of public history: history or memory? Does the enlightenment postulate with regard to public history turn memory into history? Are we dealing with some project concocted by the intelligentsia and scientifi c elite? What are the current trends in the implementation of critical discourse in public history? Polityzacja/mitologizacja historii, czyli w czym neuronauka (i metodologia) może pomóc badaczowi historii najnowszej? 1 Pomysł na taką formę przekazu powstał w nawiązaniu do niedawnego spotkania w ramach Forum Badaczy Dziejów Najnowszych, zorganizowanego przez Polskie Towarzystwo Historyczne (Warszawa, 10 grudnia 2016 roku). Jego obrady pozostawiły wiele diagnoz, które postanowiliśmy w kilku wątkach uwydatnić i dopełnić. Jeżeli bowiem to, co zwie się mitologizacją i polityzacją historii ma znaczenie względem deontologii badań naukowych i edukacji historycznej, równie znaczącym tu odniesieniem będzie wynajdywanie nowych aspektów studiów nad pamięcią (i wyobraźnią kulturową), w tym tropów tego, co Jean-Pierre Dupuy nazywa "czasem projektu", który przekłada się także na neuromarketingową formułę "projektowania doświadczenia". Przy czym tematyka debaty sytuuje się w obecnym kontekście politycznym i społecznym w Polsce. Możemy dla przykładu brać jako symptom ubiegłoroczną warszawską edycję Festiwalu Filmowego WATCH DOCS, poświęconego problematyce praw człowieka, którą zdominował problem kształtowania pamięci zbiorowej w ramach polityki historycznej (patrz sekcja: "Rekonstrukcja. Polityka pamięci"). Wyzwaniem w pewnej mierze jest też niedawno wydana książka Jana Żaryna, pt. Polska

The present proposition to extend metascience so that it comprises studies on the university and the anthropocene discourse is combined with an attempt to present these studies in the perspective of deep humanities, through consilience and the outline of the socio-cultural history of the university. and analytical philosophy. Th e teachers of the Department of Methodology of History conduct rese... moreand analytical philosophy. Th e teachers of the Department of Methodology of History conduct research in the following fi elds: methodology of history, history of historiography, neuroscience in the context of humanistic research, visual history, public history, digital humanities, cognitive science, and contemporary theories of literature. Th ey conduct classes with students in methodology of history, history of historiography, history of philosophy, production of historical fi lms, in designing historical games, knowledge of museums, and introduction to media studies. Th e Department's faculty are co-originators and co-authors of programs taught at two specializations in historical studies: Management of Cultural Heritage and Commercialization of Historical Knowledge, and Applied History. Both specializations train and prepare students to practice history in the fi eld of public history. Th e teachers of the UMCS Department of Methodology of History together with its doctoral and graduate students eff ectively collaborate with many methodological and historiographical centers in Poland and abroad. Th ey successfully develop and bring into eff ect Professor Jerzy Topolski's idea of the need to carry out theoretical refl ection on academic historiography (research practice of historians), broadening it with considerations on public history.

Przygotowana przez Piotra Witka, Mariusza Mazura i Ewę Solską publikacja - Histo-ria w kulturze współczesnej. Niekonwencjonalne podejścia do przeszłości stanowi pierwsze w Polsce tak szerokie i wielowątkowe przedstawienie różnych form budowania i przekazywania wiedzy o przeszłości przede wszystkim w środowisku nowych mediów i technologii informacyjnych powstających poza nurtami tradycyjnej historii akademickiej. Znajdują się w niej rozważania dotyczące teorii i praktyki zarówno historii przedstawianej w filmie czy komiksie, jak i w muzeach, na portalach internetowych, w postaci gier komputerowych, a także w przedstawieniach teatru telewizji i w rekonstrukcjach historycznych. Ta ważna książka wskazuje na postępujący proces wypierania z przestrzeni społecznej historii pisanej, przez liczne i różnorodne niestandardowe podejścia do przeszłości. Pokazuje ona, że w epoce nowych mediów i kultury obrazu, tworzenie wiedzy o przeszłości jest efektem współpracy łączącej badania profesjonalnych historyków z wizjami artystów i umiejętnościami specjalistów od nowych mediów.
