Ray Coville: If youraerial is pointing to thePorlockrelaytransmitter you will only receive the PSB muxes. The COM mux owners declined to extend coverage to further relay sites due to the extra costs that would have been incurred. It is possible to receive the COM muxes from transmitters inWales in some parts of Porlock.Carmel is probably the best one to try.

Ta24 8nbPorlockantenna. My free Viewreception is often pixelating. Today we have signal level of 92% but bit error level is all over the place, up to 500.Channels 1,2,3,4 all affected. I can see themast from our window and the free view tv is connected to aloft mounted aerial. I do not believe we have anything in the house that would causeinterference. Any ideas? Is thequality of transmitted signal monitored all the time?
Ps. My friend who runs a caravan site at ta24 8qt has terrible reception for the last month.

Ward:

Hi. Some basic checks, have you retuned at all recently? If so, check in your TV tuning section you are correctly tuned toPorlock's UHFchannels which areC24,C27,C21 for BBCA/PSB1, D3&4/PSB2 and BBCB HD/PSB3.
Other signals can be received in your location and some of the recent weather conditions can cause Tropospheric Ducting/Temperature Inversion which could make such signals quite strong.

Porlock is arelay ofMendip and Mendip has had PlannedEngineering in recent weeks and that may be affecting the signals at Porlock, nothing can be done about that, one has to wait for work to be complete. There are no recently reported faults or engineering at Porlock.

Have you checked youraerial hasn't been inadvertently disturbed, it should be pointing compass bearing 234 degrees (9 degrees W of SW) with the rods vertical, also check you haven't had any vermin chewing cables!

Your friend's caravan site is not in a "predicted"Freeviewreception area. That doesn't mean that he wouldn't be able to get any reception as predictions aren't 100% but it does mean reception could be quite variable to poor. Reception may even be from an "out of area"transmitter. Do you know which way his aerial points and which way the rods are?
