January got 2026 off to a strong start atLondon Stansted Airport, with passenger numbers continuing to rise year on year! ✈️📈 The airport welcomed 1.9m passengers in January, representing a 2% increase compared to January 2025, as travellers kicked off the new year with trips across Europe and beyond.📦 Alongside passenger growth, Stansted handled 23,380 tonnes of cargo during the month, underlining its vital role in keeping goods moving in and out of the UK.🌍 The top three most popular countries during the month were Italy, Spain, and Turkey, while the busiest routes were Istanbul, Dublin and Edinburgh. 🎓 The month also saw the airport host its first Aviation Careers Festival, welcoming over 500 students from across Essex and Hertfordshire, inspiring the next generation to explore careers in aviation.Read more 🔗https://bit.ly/4ajsTBS

Inspiring future aviation talent atLondon Stansted Airport! ✈️Yesterday, we welcomed over 5️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ students from across Essex and Hertfordshire to our first Aviation Careers Festival, giving them a hands-on insight into the wide range of careers available across the airport and aviation industry!Students took part in flight simulators, engineering challenges and technology demonstrations, heard directly from industry professionals about their career journeys, and received CPR training thanks to Essex and Herts Air Ambulance!Gareth Powell OBE, Managing Director at London Stansted said: “We’re proud to have hosted such an inspiring event for local young people. As the largest single-site employer in the East of England, London Stansted offers a huge range of exciting career paths, and this festival gives students the chance to experience that first-hand. London Stansted Airport had its busiest ever year in 2025 as passenger numbers passed the 30m milestone for the first time in the airport’s history!✈️📈 The airport handled 2.26m passengers in December, a 1.6% increase on the same month in 2024. That also included thousands of overseas visitors choosing the airport as their gateway to London and the east of England over Christmas and the new year period. 🌍 The year saw Dublin and Istanbul as the two most popular destinations with nearly 1m passengers flying to and from Stansted to each location, with Edinburgh once again completing the top three. Turkey joined Spain and Italy as the top countries for passengers, replacing Poland in third place. 🛂 A host of new route launches and seat capacity increases saw the airport record 16 days when passenger numbers topped 100,000, up from 10 last year!Read more 🔗https://bit.ly/45adyQX

Big news today forLondon Stansted Airport!We’re delighted to share that Uttlesford District Council has approved our plans to increase our annual passenger limit to 51 million, unlocking huge opportunities for the region over the next 20 years.This milestone means we can make the best use of our existing single runway and grow sustainably without increasing the number of flights or expanding beyond our current footprint.Growing Stansted to the new limit would unlock:- 4,500 new jobs, supported by our training and education facilities- Improved transport links, including upgrades to M11 Junction 8 and enhanced local bus services- Half of all passenger journeys by public transport, easing pressure on local roads- Investment in local infrastructure and community initiativesAsGareth Powell, the airport's Managing Director, said: "This approval lays the foundations for long-term sustainable growth, creating thousands of jobs, attracting new routes, and delivering widespread social and economic benefits - all while decarbonising our operations and growing responsibly."Thank you to everyone who supported our plans. London Stansted had its busiest-ever November 🎉📈 The number of passengers using London Stansted in the 12-months to the end of November stands at 29.99 million, up 1.3% on the previous year.✈️ Airline punctuality during the month was strong with 80% of all flights operating on time, and with more than 90% of first wave morning departures leaving on schedule.🎁 1.4 million passengers are expected to travel through between 19 December 2025 and 4 January 2026 as they head away to celebrate the festive period.
