Behavioral Health Services

UAII provides behavioral health services for all ages. Our experienced professionals provide individual psychotherapy and group services.

UAII’s model of care is provided with respect for cultural beliefs and traditions for those we serve.

Therapy Services

UAII’s Behavioral Health program provides outpatient mental health therapy to support individuals and families in our community. Our approach is compassionate, culturally responsive, and focused on meeting people where they are. We offer:

  • Individual counseling
  • Family counseling
  • Group workshops and parenting classes
  • In-person and telehealth services

Therapy services are available to community members throughout Los Angeles County via telehealth, with in-person services offered at our clinic.

We currently serve clients withMedi-Cal and focus on providing supportive therapy for mental health concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, and trauma.

Substance Abuse Services

Our full-service Substance Abuse Disorder Treatment programs are tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual and provide holistic care to promote long-term recovery.

As part of our unwavering commitment to provide services that honor our culture, our programs integrate both Holistic Native and Evidence-Based approaches.

WIND Program

The Walking In a New Direction (WIND) Program provides culturally-relevant substance use and suicide prevention and early intervention services to American Indian/Alaska Native youth and young adults, targeting those between the ages 12 to 24. The goals of the WIND Program are to empower youth to take charge of their own health and wellness; to encourage community wellness, education and resilience; and to increase staff capacity to respond to youth in crisis.

With a focus on strength-based strategies to develop healthy coping skills and protective factors, the WIND Program offers a combination of educational workshops and recreational and cultural activities, such as:


  • Educational presentations on depression, suicide and substance use prevention
  • Arts and crafts workshops
  • Recreational activities, such as horseback riding, indoor rock climbing, and hiking
  • Culturally-based activities such as basket weaving, dreamcatcher and prayer tie workshops, and GONA
  • Family outings to Pow Wows and other community events and gatherings

Prevention & Aftercare (P&A) Services

Prevention and Aftercare (P&A) Services is supported by the Los Angeles County Department of Children & Family Services and provides strength-based, family-centered programming to build protective factors for children and their families. The goal of P&A is to prevent child maltreatment by engaging families in community-based family supports; to increase child safety within the home; and help families develop healthy behaviors and increase family resilience.

UAII’s P&A programming includes activities, workshops, resources and supports, such as:


  • Yoga
  • Book Club
  • Talking Circle
  • Beading and Sewing Workshops
  • Financial literacy
  • Positive Indian Parenting
  • Peer Support groups
  • Students Run LA
  • Drum, Dance & Regalia Workshops
  • Concrete Support for Basic Family Needs
  • Young Spirit Hour
  • Linkages/referral to resources through individualized case navigation

Partnership for Families

Partnership for Families is a program through the Department of Children and Family Services, aimed at supporting families with children 0-5 years of age.

UAII’s PFF program offers a variety of services to help families on their parenting journey.
